I did not need a punch to pan lube .38-55 bullets with SPG.
I just had to learn how much to let the cake cool before thumbing the bullets out with lube in the grooves.

I'll have to try that with my pistol bullets.

I use bees wax and petroleum jelly, Goes hard enough not to be messy to handle but softens up as you ram it into the chamber, for combustible paper loads I use pure bees wax, and stick the wad to the end of the cartridge then load the ball separately, I tumble lube the ball with Lee tumble lube, works well, no chain fires no leading, hit what I point it at ( well some of the time) lol I don't point that well, my pistol shooting would make a glass eye cry

I'll say this about forums, don't like an opinion, read a little farther along. I've been shooting and hand loading for 40 plus years but cap and ball only four or so. Nix on petroleum products was what I've gathered, so it's been bore butter and animal or vegetable oils until I learned of Ballistol. Now here's a bunch of folks using paraffin, petroleum jelly and what all as lube..Bees Wax ain't cheap, paraffin is, am I missing something here..

I dip my felt into a tray of my lube, which is essentially Gatafeo, but using deer fat, thanks to a very fat laden doe a few yrs ago, rendered over a quart of tallow and been using it ever since, then when cooled, use the drill press method to cut out for my various caliber guns. I don't let the cut out felt sheets go to waste, I roll it up and cut out wads for my .75 cal cannon.
