Gents,

This is mainly directed at the 10mm crowd here. I have this terrible addiction to the caliber. I have owned many 10mm pistols, and settled mainly on the 1911 platform for this. Had a 1076 and liked it a lot. Witness 10mm as well. When the Glock 20 first came out I bought one, had nothing but problems, and returned it. Still, a hi-cap 10mm has its appeal. So share your thoughts/experiences on the Glock 20 please. Talk me out of it if you want to. That would save me some spare cash.

Thanks in advance!

The only complaint I hear about Glock 20, and 21, is the size of the grip. My G20 is accurate and fun to shoot. It has been 100% reliable. I don't know if you are used to the Glock trigger. Once you get used to it Glocks can be shot with very good accuracy.

You can get a drop in 6" G20 barrel. It sticks out in front of the slide but people seem to like it for hunting. It lets the 10 mm build up more velocity.

Go for it.

G20=good

I have always had trouble warming up to GLOCKs. I've had 5 different GLOCKs, and sold them all after TRYIING to learn to shoot them and like them. Sold them all. I always went back to my beloved 1911's. Including 10mm 1911's.

But I recently got a deal on a new G20, and absolutely love the thing. I put Heinie night sights on it, and a 3.5 glock trigger connector, and this thing is shooting GREAT. Recoil is very managable, even with CORBON and DOUBLETAPP hunting loads. I've gotten a couple of 2" 25 yard groups.

With a pre ban mag, you have 16 rounds of 180gr bullets @ 1300fps[+] on tap when you pick up the pistol:cool: This, for me, is the one GLOCK to own.

I'm in the same boat, I own 3 10mm's and am a Coke Whore for this round. :p

My favorite is a reemed pre II Kimber but I would like to have every make out there.

I wish the 20 and 29 had the G-17 grip, at least that grip is acceptable. Also my friends 10mm bulges brass and that botheres me because my others don't do it and have better supported barrels.

Still, I feel the need for a 29 for the truck. :D Bren

Rich357, are the 10 round mags for the 20 shortened, or are they just indented along the sides to reduce capacity like those for the 21? I hate chopped mags.

I forgot about the chamber support issue. I have heard that can be problematic with these. The trigger would take a little getting used to as well, although that could easily be tweaked. Grip size is no biggie for me. I agree a slightly smaller one would be nice, though. Seems to be a few issues here but they are easily addressed.

This is bugging me enough I will probably give in. Worst case scenario, I don't like it and have to sell it.

The G20 10-round mags are not shortened, but rather limited in the same way as G21 mags, using an internal rib that constricts the inside of the magazine tube.

Thanks! Seems like a more troublefree design than shortening. I have had some issues with chopped off mags in other guns. Of course I would lay in several 15 rounders anyway, but some 10s for range use would be nice.

My problems with the Glock 20 (a 20C to be precise) were:

- 15 round mags are hard to find and expensive as hell
- Glock triggers suck
- Clunky ergonomics and unpleasant subjective feel

Very accurate and reliable for me, however. Case support not an issue with 10mm like it is with .40 S&W due to stronger case.

Well it is on the way. Now I have to sell off one of my other 10mm 1911s to fund this. Oh well, I had too many anyway! If anyone wants a 10mm Pointman, see my add on the for sale section. Please do so BEFORE my wife sees the charge card statement!

:D

Get a 3.5# connector and go to Glocktalk and do a search for the "$.25 trigger job". You might just find that trigger not to be so bad after all. One thing's for sure; you'll never have to pay a dime to a gunsmith to work on your Glock. (I'd get AGrip, also; I don't like the feel of bare plastic in my hand.)

1. Yes, you do.

2. I think it's Glockworks that has a "carry connector". Combined with the right trigger spring, a friend's G23 has a smooth, sweet trigger that I didn't think could be had on a Glock. Reminds me of an old Smith K frame trigger. It is that good.

3. Yup, 16 rounds of something similiar to a .41 Magnum, in a soft shooting auto, sounds very good. dittos for the eleven round G29 10MM.
