Hello All,
Thanks to all in advance.

Ok I want a 10mm Auto Pistol so I figure I'll get a Glock 20.
It will be my first glock too so two birds with one stone.
I don't mind the looks of the Glock. I don't mind "plastic" guns my fav pistol is a Ruger P95.

So to all that own a 10mm or Glock 20 what do you hate or love about it?
What is good price range? Around the Phila, PA area if any of you are close.

I haven't looked around the local shops yet, been busy with my Mosin M38  too much fun to shoot. that was my last purchase, but it is time to get a new handgun.

At a local shop when I was buying my P95 last year I overheard the store clerks talking how a lot of people returned their 10mm glocks because the recoil was too much or something like that. anyone else heard anything like that?
I hope that this drives the prices down:p

I like to shoot big guns so recoil is not a problem.

If I like it I might make it my HD weapon, curently P95 is IT.

Do't have one but shot one. Typical "big Glock" feel very close to 21. Recoil was no great shakes but bear in mind for both recoil and effectiveness 10mm rounds vary widely. Some are pretty weak, while others ( I didn't get a chance to shoot any of these) are extremely hot by pistol standards. Was pretty accurate and totally reliable

Personally I don't think there's enough of an upside to pull me away from the much cheaper and more available (and more accurate for me at least) 45ACP personally - you can get some pretty eyepopping loads in that caliber too and I alrteady have several guns chambered for it. That however is my preference only. Certainly nothing wrong with the G20 or 10mm in general if the cost of ammo for practice is within your comfort level.

Good Glock prices can be found at either topglock.com or glockmeister.com. Usually cheaper than local stores even if you account for FFL fee. Another good source is Davidson's gun locator - www.galleryofguns.com

Good luck and enjoy!

I would rent a .45 and see if you like the glock (or a G-20 if they have one to rent, but usually don't). People either love glocks or hate them. I personally love them. I bought the 10mm because of the power they offered. 15 rounds of full power 10mm loads is about as good as it gets. The 45acp cannot even come close to the ballistics of the full power 10mm loads, even with +p's. I would not say the recoil of the G-20 is excessive or prohibitive. It is very true that the loads vary widely. Most factory ammo is emasculated to the levels of the .40 S(hort) & W(eak). Double Tap, Buffalo Bore and many more sell 10mm that will definately give you your money's worth. If you like glocks, you will LOVE the 10mm. As gravy, you can buy conversion barrels for it chambered in 357sig and 40S&W.

I love mine. It is a Glock and has a trigger I don't like and the little things about a Glock that people sometimes dislike. However, it shoots great and I think it's the 10mm to have. 15rds of ammo is a real plus.

I think it's a good move.

I don't love OR hate Glocks, good guns, wouldn't mind owning one, but I don't. I have, however, fired a G20 with hot handloads and it was easy to shoot, not any worse than my P90 Ruger with normal .45ACP far as I could tell. It's a BIG gun, not exactly concealment friendly. If I had one, it'd be for outdoor carry or maybe pins or something. However, I have a .45 for anything steel or shaped like a bowling pin I might need to knock down and I really prefer revolvers on my "walk abouts" or as hunting companions. So, I never was interested in a 10. That G20 was pretty accurate. Didn't shoot it off the bench, so I don't know HOW accurate, just that I was hitting 6" plates at 25 yards with regularity.

If you like the caliber, I think the G20 is the one I'd look into. I know the Glock quality is unquestioned, it will feed, it will go bang, and it will be accurate. I can't say I know these things about other 10s. I don't like "safe action" for concealed carry, but in a good trigger covering hip holster, I don't have a problem with it. I'd want an 8 lb "NY" trigger in it if it were for duty wear. If it was just for an outdoor gun or for competition, the trigger would remain unmodified.

My Glock 20 is among the favorite firearms in my collection. I love the thing. It is simple, reliable, and durable. It has the power of a .357 Magnum revolver with top loads, but over twice the capacity--all while remaining controllable and very comfortable to shoot. If you don't have a grudge against polymer and your guns don't have to shine for you to find them attractive, the Glock 20 deserves a serious look. About the only thing you might have a problem with is the grip size, and perhaps grip angle, which differs from the 1911.

Glocks rock. The 10mm rocks. So the Glock 20 takes names...real keeper.
