Do people carry red dots?

Or find a local USPSA/IDPA match.

With my work schedule (on call) and location that is unfortunately easier said than done. I do miss having regular scheduled matches, leagues etc to compete in.

Having said that, the gamer movement, reloading, muzzle orientation shenanigans I’ve observed border on utter stupidity at times. Not that all matches are set up or administered that way, but many are.

So true. I am recovering from some neurological damage and am now able to sprint and I will get back to movement. You can do a lot with air soft.
Probably the best trainers for that sort of thing are Gabe Suarez and his group. He was obviously not the first one to use movement since many of the old time gun fighters did it. He discovered during a gun fight with gang banger when on an armed robbery call. They both fired at the same time and he jumped to side as he fired killing the banger. The goblin fired where he had been. If he had not moved they would have shot each other.

Here is a Hollywood star playing the role of a peaceful rancher killing people it in a somewhat dramatic LOL manner and shooting ambidextrously, getting off the X and seeking cover.

Get better man, hope you're not in pain

One criticism that i have with IDPA is that it teaches very aggressive and I think creckless tactics and no one is shooting back at you. When I did it, it was mostly about attack. Going forward and confronting advisories.
Only in very rare instances would I ever go into a place where I suspected goblins were there with guns waiting. I be would getting the heck out of dodge or picking a strong defensible point with cover and wait in ambush. If I had choice I rather shoot them in back from cover. For a civilian other than shooting targets and getting that practice, it is not of a lot real value.

Yes. More often than not my carry piece is a 4.25" M&P with an RDS and WML. Conceals fine. I mean, under a t-shirt, when chasing a toddler. No problems.

And, I shoot it great. Red dot means I can shoot at least as well as I did decades ago when my eyes worked better. Just at the range today, and I can hit body shots 100% of the time at 50 yds, maybe 75% of the time, I can make headshots at that distance.

A big hindrance for precise fire for me is that I use a glock and the one that has the RMR has the worst trigger. I did a little work with and did what was safe, but you take you life in your hands if you do too much to a glock trigger to lighten its pull relative to safety and ADs. I certainly do not need a hole in my femoral artery or in my private parts for sure.

A lot of people with experience in such things are switching to CCW with RDS. I know a couple of USPSA GM who have added a RDS to their EDC.

I've just recently started carrying a SIG 320 Compact with a RDS to see how it works out for concealment.

Be aware that there is a pretty steep learning curve to acquiring the dot on the draw. The saying "seeing your sights aligned as well as you need to" takes on a whole new meaning . I also needed to change shooting glasses

I have a gun with a red dot and co-witnessed sights that is used in the house and whenever I am travelling overnight (in conjunction with a PCC). I got a holster that fits the gun, red dot and light. The red dot gets turned on before holstering. If I draw and there's no dot I revert to the irons.

I probably would if they slim them down and kept reliable. (All worth their salt are over 1" thick)

As it is, I've carried a G34 and 2011 OWB with them istalled on road trips, (which I take many times a year), but never in a day to day scenario.
