Hello,
I'd like to add a red dot to my MKII. My mkII isn't drilled and tapped for a rail. My complaint about the handgun red dot sights is that they're bulky and mounted high.

Does anyone make a red dot (either tube or single lens) that will mount in the factory dovetail location at the rear sight?

Thanks

Take a look at Docter Optics. They will fit on handguns easier than most of the tube red dot systems and holoscopes.

Burris makes a pistol mount for Ruger MK 1, II, III that will work with the Docter optics.

If height is a problem look for some SoLow rings. I have a set and they are great. You push out the rear sight and install a small tab that holds them in place.

I don't have a picture but found one that P95Carry posted in another thread.(Hope that's ok)

Its a waste of time IMHO... I put one on my .22/45 and took it off 10 minutes later. Shooting it with a red dot was boring...

I know its not what you asked so sorry for piping in here. Just think if you REALLY need one... :)

Thanks for the input. I think I'm looking for the Docter Optics/ Burris dovetail mount option, but I just need to convince myself to spend that kind of dough.

Voland- I think need went out the window serveral guns ago with this hobby :)
