Always.
Either a .38 snubby or XDs .45 in a front pocket, and cellphone, always in a back pocket.
I live in a very low crime area (31 years now, same home) but that hasn't deterred me from being prepared...as they say stuff happens.

Always since I am not psychic. A small 9mm or derringer is no more than your key ring, "if it's like most guys", with 2 cars house keys, safe and other keys that I need to have for emergency's. I don't carry mags and accessories, just a gun with 5-8 rounds in it. It takes no time to get used to if it's under 20 ozs, and with those Powerball or Liberty ammo, the mag, weighs nothing.
Each to their own, but having a bunch of guns scattered around is not going to help if the front door comes busting in, or the wife walks in with groceries and someone right behind her. That's usually how things happen, the opposite of how you planned.
Ankle holsters and belly bands work also, and you don't need a "go to war gun", just something you can hit a target 2o feet away with. Even a 9mm derringer will work.

Home defense

I have a layered defense.
1. 2 Shi'tzu s that bark at anything that moves.
2. 1heinz 57 with a scary set of teeth also barks.
3. A can of wasp and hornet killer that shoots 20 ft. I shudder to think of what that would do to a man's face.
4. Any number of ready to load firearms. Mags are full guns just need to be charged.
Kids come and go all the time, so I must be careful.

The wasp spray may be considered as a lethal weapon due to its possible neurotoxicity. Ditch it.

Get a quality pepper spray if you want a less than lethal.

Yeah, wasp spray is a myth. It may poison a BG after a few months after contact, but it won't stop the actual assault.

Besides, you have children and you want to spray poison in the air? Probable do nasty things to your dogs as well.

Stick to pepper spray and loaded firearms locked in reachable locations.

Wasp spray for home defense?

What?

Wasp spray pales in comparison to OC spray.

Plus using in a manner unintended is actually a felony iirc. Should say so on the label.

^ It may say it's "unlawful", but it does not say it's a "felony."

But, I also don't recommend its use for defense by anyone who has other, more dedicated, means available.

I've heard this many, many times, but I've never seen or heard any direct evidence that it's true. Does anyone here have any first-hand accounts or (better yet) some actual published evidence that wasp spray works well against humans?

Wasp spray might actually be all it's reported to be, but until I see some actual evidence that it works, I'm going to recommend sticking with pepper spray instead, considering its performance is well known.

I keep a bottle of sriracha hot sauce that I squirt at home invaders. If that fails I fall back to my trusted bottle of Lysol. Both are way more effective than wasp spray.

Seriously? People rely on wasp spray? Tell me that's a joke. Do people club them with a plunger or frying pan then after they are blinded?

Tasers vs OC sprays & insect spray....

Id suggest a home owner or apt lease holder use a C2 taser before buying a huge can of bug spray or thinking a Mk 9 irritant/OC; like Dog Chapman on CMT, :D , can protect them.
C2 Tasers run about $300.00 USD and have a 30sec charge. Taser used to sell charges that were different lengths(15', 21', 26') but I think they ended that for private sector sales(citizens). See www.Taser.com . I like the C2 red version(so you can quickly see it & people won't confuse it with a firearm).

OC sprays aren't bad. I use the Fox Labs Mean Green Mk III & the Zarc Industries Vexor Mk IV micro-spin on security details.

I second that.

A very prudent strategy, in my opinion.

My dad never had guns.

When I visited my grandparents, there was loaded .32 S&W Long revolver visible on the second shelf of the nightstand. An uncle kept a laded Colt.45 Automatic (no one said "1911" in those days) under his pillow. An aunt kept a .32 S&W of some kind loaded in a drawer.

We knew to not touch them, and we did not.

But I agree with your position on this.

My solution is to keep it on me.
We also had loaded guns lying around as kids and just knew not to touch them. If we wanted to shoot we asked and someone would take us out back to do some target practice.

To the original post, I carry at home too, although I kinda want to get that underwear with a built in holster for convenience if I have to get up in the middle of the night to get some water/go to the bathroom lol. :)

Yes, I carry at home. Always.

I am very comfortable and confident that I don't have much to fear, because I understand that maintaining awareness and committing to respectful preparation reduce already very low likelihood of victimization to near zero.

I am a big fan of pocket carry and at home usually keep my CCW on my person at all times, excluding bedtime or in the shower. Heavier ordnance quickly available as necessary.

Though we live close to town, the response from the country sheriff could be 15 - 20 minutes if none happen to be nearby.

I often carry when I'm working out in my shop right next to my house. It's noisy in there and I live alone at the moment, so if someone were to kick down the door to my house, I wouldn't necessarily hear it and in the house there is often one or two guns out of the safe being cleaned or worked on and ammo on the reloading bench somewhere.
