If I'm carrying my M&P 9c I carry one extra mag in a don hume clip on mag carrier. If I'm carrying my P7 its two spare mags on the belt in a dual mag carrier. I also keep a 17rd mag for my M&P in my console of my car. I've never understood rationalizing carrying LESS ammo. There is NO circumstance where the extra ammo is a detriment if its not needed but if the extra ammo is needed and you don't have it, well then your probably dead then aren't you? Seems like a pretty clear cut to me. But I suppose I could apply that logic to why I should carry TWO spare mags then. Well, I guess its not the perfect logic but I still think one or two reloads is prudent.

If your comfortable without I'm not saying your wrong. I'm just saying what works for me.

If your carrying an auto, you realize the mag is the weakest part of the equation (besides the shooter), right?

You carry a spare mag for more than just extra ammo. If the one in the gun decides to take a dump, for whatever reason, what do you do if you dont have a spare to replace it?

Good point. If the 12 dollar magazine in your 600 dollar gun takes a crap you now have a 600 dollar club. Or a really fancy single shot.

I carry an extra mag or two most of the time. As others have said, It ain't the bullets I'm worried about - it's the mag.

I usually carry an 8 shot .40, or 9 shot .45 primary. I prefer a NY reload to spare mags. Usually I have a P3AT backup. The P3AT is lighter and thinner than my .45 spare magazine.

When I carry my GLOCK 21, 3-13 round and 1=10 round mag. My 38 5 shot revolver loaded w/ 4 rounds and 2 speed loaders w/ 5 rounds each.

Dare I ask, what kind of 5 shot revolver are you carrying with only 4rds in it?

WC145, I caught that too, but he may be saying he carries 4 cylindrical (round) speedloaders to back up the 5 rounds he has in the gun.

I generally don't carry one, but I did today - partly because of all you guys who do.
