Very true, those gun mods/customization that you described are more or less purpose rebuilds there Strawhat.Until the re-introduction of the ACP revolver, several gunsmiths made a living doing the conversion. Same for the 44 Special.
Wisely chosen modifications often do not hurt resale.

I used to cut the trigger return springs on S&W revolvers, to get a better double-action pull for competition.Well, my EDC is a Colt Combat Commander, Clark-style carry melted, bobtailed, new grips, bushing, tritium front sight, long trigger, and extractor. I guess I've changed it.
OTOH, I don't mess with S&W revolvers other than retiming worn actions, because you shouldn't mess with perfection.
