Just curious as to who keeps spare parts around and what they keep. Check all that you keep and list your others.

I try to keep a set of springs on hand for my 1911 and i keep all my original parts when i change something.

Recoil springs and extra mags.

My complete parts kits are called "a bunch of extra guns."

I do have bags of take-off parts from mods and upgrades, but other than that I only have a few things like a set of grip screws for a Rohrbaugh and a recoil buffer for Win SX-1. Oh, and O-rings for some shotguns.

I thought of that one too. One is none, two is one.;)

I was refering to something like the Glock kits beings sold that have everything but a barrel, slide, and frame.

none - but if I could get my damn hands on some I would change that.

Yes, I keep spare parts around, sometimes as a conscience effort but more often just because I accumulate, upgrade and keep original parts. I also have enough spare firearms to cannibalize in a real pinch.

I have a little bag of spare and take-off parts that I keep in my range bag.
Most of the stuff I bought is for 1911's. I have various weight recoils springs, a complete replacement spring set, spare firing pins and extractors, etc.

spare parts

Bought a Hi Standard that had a cracked frame from a guy that had shot a steady diet of high velocity ammo out of it. Parts are interchangable with my Hi Standard. If I ever need a part there they are.

I voted for all but None.

I keep spare kits for all my firearms, spare barrels too, basically everything to get the thing going again in case of most of the common parts breaking. Springs - all, Firing Pins/Strikers, pins, Mags (and spare followers and springs too). Replacement sears, and trigger components, extractors and ejectors , gas pistons for rifles, recoil buffers, yada, yada yada. Unless the Frame and Slide, or Lower or Upper receivers crack I can rebuild pretty much any gun I own. I also have spares for any aftermarket stuff too.

I consider it important to have spares for most of the stuff I own that I'd like to keep operating especially those things that could be life critical.

I voted none because at the moment I do not have any. However, I plan on buying a parts that I can easily fix myself. with the rest, I know a gunsmith should be able to get them and fix the gun.

But, I am going to get a complete parts kit for my newly acquired EG Mak because I can probably fix every part (by replacing it) myself.

I have enough parts to rebuild the entire gun except the slide and frame. The only exception is the barrel for some guns, and a certain brands where you are more likely to see god, then getting spare parts (*cough*Hk*cough*).

I have extra AKs and SKSs for use or parts. The parts I would like to keep on hand for my handguns, just don't seem to be avail, but I'm pretty sure I could fabricate something if the need arose. Like the guide rod for my 90-two. I can't imagine needing anything for my XD, that thing is built like a brick shyt house.

I have some spare parts - started w/ what i have picked up in trades. It's nice being able to complete projects in timely matters

I've got some parts kicking around for my PPKs and the P1 that I shoot regularly, mostly springs and a couple of pins. You can buy a complete parts kit for the P1 from a couple of online outfits for less than a hundred bucks, but I've never felt the urge; the guns are pretty darn reliable. I also keep extra sets of grips around for each gun.

Besides having extra stocks, I bought a Gunsmith's small screw kit, & small spring kit. Ever drop a screw & can't find it? Ever have a spring go "twang" & disappear? I also have several swivels & straps for slings & also have extra cleaning supplies. After shooting what should you do? Everybody's freaking about ammo.... How do you shoot a "dirty" gun well.

Revolvers

For K and N frames, Hand, mainspring, extractor, cylinder stop, some old hammers and triggers, Firing pin.
For J frames, some extra J frames.
For the 1911, safety, link, extractor. firing pin. some springs.

Not only do I have spare parts for most of my firearms I have spare firearms just incase. If one happens to go bad it becomes spare parts for the other one!!!

I like being prepared.

I'm planning to order a spare trigger group and springs for my AK once my funds recover. I have a strong suspicion that the next AWB, if passed, will include a provision that bars the sale of replacement parts and restricts manufacturer servicing of civilian guns. It would be such a simple addition to the bill, and would serve to eventually reduce or eliminate them as they wear out. It would also mean people hoarding stripped lowers couldn't put them in service.
