Do you refuse to travel to states with more restrictive gun laws than your own?

That's not really true. Violent crime stats would show there were periods with higher rates of violent crimes in the 70's, 80's and 90's. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Violent_crime#/media/File:Violent_Crime_in_the_United_States.png
You just hear about all of it now on the 24/7 news cycle.
I agree. We're inundated with information that just wasn't available in the past. I'm pretty sure crime rates had been going down consistently until we had the spike when Covid hit.

The only state I got to that has less 2A rights than the one I live in is Illinois. Any time I cross state line I make sure I unload it & lock my carry in the console, I think that is the right way to transport it in that state. I don't like going there but if I have to visit my step daughter I have to do what I need to do to be legal. She has recently moved back to a sane state so I don't have to go there any more.

I often have to go to the Poeples republic to the East, but i avoid it as much as possible. In Eastern PA, your pretty much ringed in. NY to the north, MD to the south, NJ & DEL to the east. Any state line is pretty much enemy territory.

I refuse to buy guns or ammunition in my own state. I will take my business and money to another state just to deprive these democratic communists of the revenue. Anywhere I travel will have more pro 2A laws.

Well, since I haven't left California since 2011, I'll have to plead IDK.

I suppose the more relevant question for me would be whether I'd spend money to travel someplace more crime-ridden than Fresno unarmed, and the answer to that is no.

If I had a good enough reason to travel again I'd probably have to fly, and bringing my own gun with me is more trouble than I need. Back in 2011 I went to Indiana, which is a gunowner's Nirvana compared to here, with a stop to change planes in Utah, also reasonably gun-friendly.
That would be Oakland or sister city San Francisco more dangerous now than ever before !. Fresno ,Bakersfield ,Coalinga and Firebaugh are pretty tame comparatively speaking

Not to change the subject but I find it somewhat puzzling that the ,Hercules Powder Company facility outside Hesperia , CA. was NEVER listed among their assets ;) It closed down mid 70's . Was a MAJOR supplier of explosives to the Union Carbide Mine ,located 18 miles West of Bishop, CA. !.
I batched explosives for Hercules and in a pinch drove a semi with 40K lb. Class A explosives up to that mine . When our regular driver was AWOL !. Not a task for the faint of heart ,especially in the dead of Winter and NOT chaining up before entering the grade . Dumb Azz move on MY part !.

And probably 90% of gun manufacturers used to call Ct, Mass, NY home before the left got control. My personal "toilet" state Is CT where Colt, Remington, Mossberg, Marlin, Ruger and more were based but now being pushed out. Non-reciprocal CC stinks as does 10 round mag capacity limit. It's still nice up here in NW hills but it's changing fast with the migration of city dwellers and illegals. Most of the big cities no matter what state are crime ridden hell holes.
Originally from Federativnaya Sotsialisticheskaya Respublika California ,I fully understand Where and What You are saying .

To all posters: I guess you don't/won't travel outside the USA.
If so you are really limiting yourself to other cultures.

LET THE FLAMES BEGIN!!!:rofl::rofl:
Um, look around my friend. We have probably 99% of the rest of the world represented almost everywhere, or at least within a couple of hours of most any major city. Limiting oneself to other cultures isn't really much of an issue if that's what you're interested in. For many reasons I don't travel to places more restrictive than home, but as has already been said, when it comes to family, exceptions will be made on an as needed basis.

No need here to travel outside the US to experience other cultures. My little New England town now has 300+ non English speaking students speaking 14 different languages and only a handful of multi lingual teachers. Local Wal-Mart is like a trip to central America. Not flaming, just sayin'.

I'm just the opposite. I support my LGS owned by a Viet Nam vet and retired detective because they're struggling in an anti gun atmosphere here in Ct. The goal of the anti 2A is to put gun manufacturers and gun stores out of business and I won't help them do it. I can assure you they're not Democrats or communists. I get it that the state ends up with the tax money though. I see your point but not at the expense of losing more gun shops here.
