Do you remember your first?

Of course I remember my first rifle.
I bought AND sold it less than a year ago.

It was a Russian cap K98k that I liked but didn't love and sold at a $30 profit.

The first rifle I ever shot was my Uncle's WWI M1903 Springfield and I've wanted one ever since. However, I always either can't find one or can't afford it when I do.

First rifle

My first was a Remington 514 that my Dad gave me for my 7th birthday in 1961. It was stolen, along with 2 shotguns and two .22 revolvers that were being stored while I was at Ft. Ord for basic training in 1973.
I've aquired a bunch of guns since then but of all the guns that I no longer have, I would really like to have that old Remington single shot back.

I cant even remember how old I was, but my first gun was .22 in M16 shape. I regret to this day selling it off for real M16.

Christmas at my Grandparents house, they presented my brother, my cousin, and I each with a NEF 20 Gauge single shot.

Got my first dear and many squirrels with it..

Another NEF 20 gauge single shot here

Still my go to close range "critter gitter".. Everything from squirrels and coons to cottonmouths.

I bought my first gun when I was 22. It was a .22LR Ruger MKII pistol, and is sitting in my safe at this moment.

My first rifle is also in the safe. I think I was 24 or 25 when I got it. It was a .50 T/C Hawken. I hunted deer with it, instead of having to borrow from others.

I first fell in love with the 1911 when I was in the Army. I didn't get into guns until about 10 years ago when I shot a Glock 22 and decided to go through the New Jersey permitting process to buy one. I guess the Glock was the "first" gun, technically, but the 1911 was the first in my heart. That piece of plastic is a fine gun, but it isn't in the same universe as a 1911.

Around last summer I took my two boys to see Captain America. My oldest son asked me if I could buy a 1911 just like the one Captain America had. I thought about it, poked around online and found one for sale in a private transaction.

My son's eyes were as wide as dinner plates when I brought it home. It was an Auto Ordnance 1911A1 with U.S. Army stamped on the slide: just like the one I had in the Army and just like the one Captain America carried in the movie.

I promised my son that 1911 would be his when he turned 21. I've even let him shoot it a few times with one round in the magazine and me standing right behind him. So maybe in a few years, my son will be posting this story in a similar thread, but from his perspective, as his first gun.
