Do you sell your guns?

I have only sold 2 guns. 1 was a Lorcin which I was happy to unload and the other was a SS Model 85 Taurus which I wish I had back. I have made up my mind to buy only those guns I feel will never be sold which means I do a ton of research before buying one. I think every gun I have right now I will keep and pass on to my daughter and son eventually.I think they will be happy.

I've been on a trading and buying spree the last 3 years. Before that, I generally kept my guns for years and purchased rarely. Now I'm likely to get an impulse and grab a gun from my safe and head out and trade up to something new just to 'scratch my gun itch'.

I've been doing it so much lately that my son is poking fun at me. Everytime I come home with a new or used gun and say "this is definitely the last gun I'll buy for a long time" he just smerks and says "that's what you said the last time"

I don't get attached to my guns. To me they are interesting tools and when I see something better, I try to get the best deal I can and then enjoy the new purchase. :D

It depends on life's priorities sometimes I guess and which hobby is making the greatest demand on my resources. I've bought dozens, sold dozens, and bought dozens again. Never leaving myself with less than a half dozen though. More will come and more will go. To me, only some guns are forever, while the rest are disposable. There are only a couple that I truly wish I hadn't parted with, now, but that's hind sight. At this stage in my life I think my collection has stabilized more than it ever has been without being absolutely fixed but who knows what lies ahead.

Absolutely Not~!

In the past, I have been known to create what is commonly called a
fruit-basket turnover in firearms~! I have done this several times for
various reasons; but NEVER again~! I have got the collection now
that suits my taste, so there is NO need to sell my very personal
collection. Money wise, not the most expensive; but it is what I
want too past on to my daughter, and grand-daughter~! ;)

I've sold a couple that I found didn't suit my tastes after owning them for a while. I have only one hard and fast rule...don't sell a gun just to buy another.

I'm a shooter rather than a collector. Anything in the safe that doesn't get shot fairly regularly is likely to get sold to purchase something else. I've made a couple of impulse buys that seemed like good deals, and then turned around and sold them months (or years) later when it turned out they didn't float my boat. I've scaled back over the last couple of years, and now am pretty comfortable with what I have. I don't really "need" anything else, but I'm always looking. And like has been said above, anything in my safe is for sale at the right price.

most of my gun selling is in the family normally between my dad and others so they are always around, but i have sold an ar and a ruger p95. the reason i sold those were for the simple fact that the ar was an a2 and i wanted an a3 etc, and the ruger was da/sa and i don't like. i also sold a beretta 92fs, i took off the accesories and sold them individually and kept the m6 light, sold the gun and still came out on top.

the only time i have had to sell guns and not want to was right before i went to iraq in 04. because the army for some reason gave me 2 no pay dues, and i had to pay the rent and feed my preganent wife, so i sold my wincehester model 70 in .270 the first rifle i ever owned and one i had had since i was a little boy, a remington 1100 that they no longer make, and armscor ak 22, two guitars a 160watt fender amp, a gibson less paul, an ibanez rg350dx, and my digitech effects board, drum machine and 8 track recorder. hard times are bad but family is a little more important that all that material stuff.

Depends....I have some quality firearms that are NEVER SELL guns. I have some that I would trust my life with....these are NEVER SELL guns.

I also have some that I bought cause the price was right or they were nifty. They are for sale or trade if something better comes along.

I've sold a few, and regretted selling only one. I've kept most of the ones I've purchased, but some I buy just to see how I like them... and I don't, so I sell them.

I've never sold, nor will I ever likely sell, guns that I've recieved as gifts or inheritance.

I sell a gun when I get bored with it and want to try something else. I owned a Sig 228 for 15 years but it was so reliable that it eventually became boring as hell to shoot. When I got my CCL permit I sold the 228 to pay for a Kahr P9 CC gun.

I don't miss the Sig a bit. The Kahr is ideal for concealed carry and I eventually picked up a CZ SP01 to serve as my range run. The SP01 is more accurate than the 228 and just as reliable. I actually enjoy shooting the SP01 more than I ever enjoyed shooting the Sig.

i trade more than i sell. my dad was an incurable trader. guns are always coming and going, and he often speaks fondly of guns he used to own. and yes, there have been guns he's owned more than once non-consecutively. he still has a few guns he won't ever part with, as do i.

i tend to buy guns that i want, but i'm a sucker for a good deal. so, i usually have a couple guns on hand that at any given time that i will gladly trade for something I really want to have in my modest collection. yesterday, i traded a handgun that i no longer cared much for plus some cash, for an old shotgun that i really wanted to own.

With one exception, I never sold or gave away a gun I haven't regretted --except to my relatives.

The exception was an H&R 949 9-shot .22 revolver. Ooog! Couldn't hit a barn from the inside with that one!

The other exception will be a real hunkajunka I will turn in to the next "get guns off the streets" program just to get a gift certificate or the $50.00 or whatever they offer. Whatever they offer.

Most regretted: a like-new Colt Airweight Commander in .38 Super. Ohhhh, how I wish I had that one back!

I do not sell anything that selling was not a possibility when I bought it.
There are some I have purchased due to price and with the intent of selling
down the line.

Mind you this only works if I do not shoot it much. The more I shoot it the
harder it is to sell.

It depends

Some of my guns have sentimental value i.e. LC Smith double that my dad gave me when I turned 10, but others have no history with my family. I'm getting ready to sell a Browning Auto 5 serial # 220273(puts it in the late 1930's) that I've only had a few years...nice gun, but I will never use it and I hate museum pieces!

Way too many.

I wish I had every one of them back.

I mostly wish I had an old Sears/Roebuck double 12 that I worked a lot of hot days in a tomato field for $5.00 a day to pay for. The first gun I ever "bought" for myself. (Actually my mother bought it for me.) Ordered it from the Sears catalog, and it was delivered right to the house in those pre 1968 days.

I've sold a couple...Nothing of any great value....Went on a buying spree of milsurps a few years ago (cheap guns, cheap ammo, right?)...But the novelty wore off, especially since even the best were only of mediocre accuracy (even with commercial ammo). so they were sitting around collecting dust. I only sold a couple that I had duplicates off (and actually doubled my money on one.) Kept a couple Mausers, 1 Mosin and 1 SMLE, and 2 SKSs. And I still don't shoot 'em much (except one of the SKSs), but I'll hang on to them for at least the foreseeable future.

I have a couple others that I MIGHT consider trading for something similar ( but "better" for the intended purpose), IF the deal was really right.

But, since I'm now on permanent disability, $$$ goes elsewhere, and I have most "niches" covered, I don't plan on doing muchbuying or selling.

I have in the past when the wife and I first got married. We were both working minmum paying jobs and when the kids got sick I would seel one of my guns to pay for the medicine. Then back when I was single I was always buying, selling or trading guns as I didn't really know what my tastes were for firearms. I just like to shoot them and wanted to try as many I as I could. The only one that I really regert is a Remington XP100 in 221 fireball.

I have in the past. I sold off a few during the great caliber consolidation & I sell / trade guns I find I don't use. On the flip side of that tho, I replace these guns w/ guns I use so really it's a net wash :D

I come from a culture of "horse traders". Heck yes I sell guns! Like many others have mentioned, sold guns get turned into "new" guns most of the time.

There's only one piece that's not for sale, and that's an heirloom piece (Win 1885) from my great grandpa.
