I think I have shot everything I have at least once.

If it has an "S" on the barrel just forward of the receiver its in 8x56r and you are in luck as ammo is available but pricey. If not its likely early 8x50r which may may it more valuable but original ammo was out of sight even before fauxvid.

I have several guns I have not shot. None that I bought but a few inherited pieces. Mostly two double barrel shotguns of dubious history made of Damascus steel.

No, it's not something I believe in. Except in the case of rare collectibles and I don't mean 3rd generation Colt SAA's, commemorative Winchesters or Rugers they only made 500 of. I mean original Colt Walkers and colonial long rifles with provenance. No such thing as "too nice to shoot". In fact, I'm not going to pay a bunch of money for something and not shoot it. All my custom and engraved handguns get shot and carried afield. If I have any guns I haven't fired, it's because I haven't gotten to them yet.

In fact, I take pleasure in buying NIB examples of desirable guns and deflowering them. Like this 1953 Winchester 94 I got last year.

An unfired new Mitchell Mauser late WWII production, these were found in a Yugoslavian warehouse and sold by Mitchell some years ago for around $300.

A Martini-Enfield my son sent back from Kabul, Afghanistan during his first deployment. Probably remain as a wall hanger.

Several shotguns (4) inherited from previous deceased family members over the years.

(edit) Forgot about a new Chinese SKS picked up at a gun show when you could buy them by the crate full.

Yes, a Bronco .25 caliber semi that was my grandfathers. I think the date on it is @ 1909 or some such.

I don’t own any I won’t shoot, but for various reasons I have several I haven’t shot. I no longer sell guns. I figure what I own sitting in my safe are better than money in the bank. If I live long enough, every one that I own will be shot, if not hopefully my heirs will enjoy them.

When I was a kid I shot everything I owned and everything my dad owned till the day he bought some commemorative Winchesters from a guy he worked with. His words to me and I quote: “ You ever shoot any of these rifles I’ll kick your ass” unquote. I never did. When my siblings and I divided up my dads guns shortly before he passed my sisters took the Winchesters. Personally I thought they were a bit gaudy but had I took them they’d of got shot! No defiance or disrespect for my old man but they are all meant to be shot as far as I’m concerned. He was a good man, I miss him.

The only reason someone shouldn't shoot a gun is if it is a hand me down with sentimental value or something of the sort, if you buy it, you should shoot it, IMO

Several---I'll get around to it someday-----have a Sheridan Silver Streak that was bought new 30 years ago and still hasn't been shot along with other cartridge firearms.
