Does anyone have sources for Flash (or other) animations of firearm actions?

I'm in process of becoming an NRA Certified Firearms Instructor starting with rifle (I'll move on to pistol and shotgun later). I wanted to do this for a few reasons, including that I've always enjoyed introducing people to my hobbies (shooting, hunting, flying) and I have a keen interest in getting young people interested in our sport. We will die out if we don't infuse new blood. I'm working to make air rifle/smallbore part of our Boy Scout program (not currently emphasized...suburb of Chicago).

Back to the subject at hand. In my instructor training class last weekend, I noticed the standard training aids were...well, rather "old school". 2-D posters that are visually unappealing and difficult to follow for folks that aren't mechanically minded.

I've seen a few really nice Macromedia Flash animations of firearm actions. Especially for youth, a computer-based animation that can be projected on a screen would be a great teaching aid. The STI animation of the 1911 is good. I've also seen a nice one of a Garand firing cycle (can't find that one though when I do a search).

Can anyone refer me to a single source or your favorite links for these? I'd be intereted in:
  • Bolt action (although you can use a simple gate deadbolt for that)
  • Blowback
  • Lever action
  • Falling / rolling block
  • Gas operated semi auto
  • Recoil / delayed blowback semi auto
  • Pump

I'd also like to see animations to demonstrate:
  • POA vs POI
  • Internal ballistics

Thanks!

Hmmm, I thought people would be more interested in this topic... Seems like every time we have a 5.56 vs 308 debate (e.g., every newbie seems to bring it up, everyone else at least once a month) we get lots of overused comments and same arguements

Here's some of the stuff I've found...does anyone have any other favorites? Remember, your contributions will add to firearms knowledge

Also, does anyone have contacts at Remington, , Browning/FN, Sako, Savage etc., that could put me in touch with their engineering departments? I could see getting a animation off of their CAD/CAM system for different actions. A little surprised that they don't do that and offer it to the NRA.

Andrew -- I have a mechanical engineering undergrad and an aerospace grad but I haven't done anything close to engineering since 1993 (got my MBA and its been marketing and strategy ever since)

Is Solidworks a solid modeling program?
