I have loaded a few of them in my .243's to an overall length of 2.53". This doesn't leave much bullet in the case, but they seem to shoot the best loaded as long as possible. I tried some lighter loads with Accurate 2015 powder, as I was hoping for a light recoiling load for practice and varmints but all the cases came out covered with soot. Apparently the powder was too fast to generate sufficient pressure to seal the chamber. I wound up going with 45.0 gr of Varget (caution, near max load, start lower and work up) for around 3900 fps out of my Sako A-7.
One other comment regarding this bullet. It shoots okay in my Sako A-7. Okay meaning 3 shot groups around 1 to 1.5 inches at 100 yards from a benchrest. However, in my Stevens 200, the bullets pattern like a shot gun, with many striking the target sideways! (keyholing). If the Stevens was the only .243 I had, I would have to give away the 900 or so I have left. Luckily, I can use them in the Sako. I believe these bullets would be much happier in a 1 in 12" or 1 in 14" twist barrel. I might try some loads with Blue Dot, as it builds pressure much quicker than standard rifle powders, and would be very mild recoiling. I will do some more research first, as I don't want to put my new Sako A-7 at risk.
