I was getting .308 at Walmart for $12.74 and made the mistake of asking the young lady one time too many if they were marked correctly and they changed them to $21.75.

I have seen full shelves of Wolf at $6.99
Xm193 Federal and some other Major brand at $8.99
Also Brown Bear 62 Grain HP at $6.99
This is at a big chain in Minnesota
Is ammo finally coming back ?
They also had most handgun calibers at reasonable prices.

Best deal I ever got was 12 boxes of Remingtom 150 gr. PSP 308 on clearance for $3.00/box at a KMart about 2 years ago! Thats right three dollars a box for hunting grade ammo.

It is not an incredible deal but if you shoot factory Remmy 223 55 FMJ gr. ammo it is a good price. I think surplus can still be had cheaper. It is what I shoot in my ARs and the next nearest price/box I can find is $8.99/box @ Natchez.

Nope, not an incredible deal at all. Just the deal of the week. The amount of fuel that I'd burn, driving to the nearest Dick's, would kill any savings that the price allows.
As a beggar, I wish I had the freedom to be more of a chooser.

Well if you buy 1K, you'd probably be getting a better deal than $400/1K. But for a single box (if that's all you can afford at the time), it's pretty good.
