Dudedog Christmas PIF journey

I have completed the majority of my evaluation of these PIF bullets but have a few more available for testing. The plan is now to pick the loads that I liked and validate my findings by stretching the testing out to 25 yards.

Following are the remaining bullets/loads I will be testing:

RMR 9mm 124gr target HP thick plated bullets:
9mm
COL: 1.060"
RMR, 124gr, HMHPRR, PowerPistol, 5.6gr, SBPRSP
5 rounds

RMR 9mm 124gr RN hardcore thick plated bullets:
9mm
COL: 1.135"
RMR, 124gr, HMRNP, PowerPistol, 5.6gr, SBPRSP
9 rounds

Xtreme 9mm 100gr RNFP plated bullets:
9mm
COL: 1.010"
Xtreme, 100gr, RNFP, AutoComp, 5.7gr, SBPRSP
4 rounds

I'm not sure if I am going to chrono these loads again, but I will definitely report back once these final loads have been tested.

Thanks again to Dudedog for the PIF. These bullets have kept me busy and it was fun trying out new load combinations.

Last week I was finally able to conclude my testing with the remaining bullets from Dudedog. I did test them at 25yards with some mixed results. It is difficult for me to know exactly where to aim on the target, even though the front sights are in focus. At the end I was happy with the results, but I definitely think the results should have been better if I was able to see the targets better at 25yards:

RMR 9mm 124gr target HP thick plated bullets:
9mm
COL: 1.060"
RMR, 124gr, HMHPRR, PowerPistol, 5.6gr, SBPRSP
5 rounds
Grouping at 25yards: 2.14"

This was the best grouping at 25yards and definitely a good load for me.

RMR 9mm 124gr RN hardcore thick plated bullets:
9mm
COL: 1.135"
RMR, 124gr, HMRNP, PowerPistol, 5.6gr, SBPRSP
9 rounds
Grouping at 25yards: 3.54"
This is obliviously not a very good grouping at 25yards, but with what I can see of the target, I don't think it is bad.

Xtreme 9mm 100gr RNFP plated bullets:
9mm
COL: 1.010"
Xtreme, 100gr, RNFP, AutoComp, 5.7gr, SBPRSP
4 rounds
Grouping at 25yards: 8.625" (1.87")
The 1.87" grouping was a 3shot grouping with one very bad flyer. I still think these 100gr bullets are very accurate, based on my 15yard results.

This concludes my testing with the bullets I received from Dudedog.

Dudedog, thank again for your generosity. Using your bullets to work up some different loads and testing them have been a blast.

Your welcome vaalpens, hope you had some fun with them.
While I don't shoot them a lot in 9mm the light bullets can be fun.
Thanks for taking the time to post results for everybody, great write up as always.
(PS I still have PIF bullets I need to test, haven't forgotten about them:))

vaalpens,
Great report as always:cool:
Thank you!!
JD

Thanks JD. Maybe a great report but my shooting is not always that great. I really have to start thinking of maybe using a scope or something for load evaluation just to try and help with the eyes variable.

Thanks Dudedog. Not all bullets have to be tested. Sometimes you should just go and shoot them and have some fun. With the last batch I had about 10 different but similar in shape 9mm bullets left I used for dummy rounds. So the challenge was to load them with the same powder. So I had a load with MIX bullets, MIX COL and 5.6gr of PowderPistol. I used them in a timed drill at 7yards and they performed great. Could not feel the difference.
