Dumbest gun rumor...

"Pistols are less accurate than revolvers."

"You can't reload a revolver as quickly as a pistol."

"Small caliber guns were never designed to inflict fatal wounds."

"If you are serious about defense then you should only shoot a .45 acp."

"All foreign made guns are junk. American made guns are and always will be the best."

Onmilo, I was raised that handguns were either Pistols or Revolvers, but both were Handguns. I know that today the term pistol is used to describe both.

"All that .25 will do is make somebody mad!"
END QUOTE

Thats pretty much all that happened to a friend of mine who took one in the right arm. The arm did swell painfully the next day and he went to the hospital. But no I would not trust my life to a mouse gun. Its better than no gun. But not by much.
Pat

On the .25, two stories:
1) BG goes to mug big burly motorcycle mechanic. Pulls a Beretta .25, aims at mechanic's face and pulls the trigger. Gun fires, bullet lodges in upper gum of mechanics mouth. Mechanic takes gun and about beats BG to death with it. When police come mechanic borrows pliers and pulls bullet from gum. One officer faints.

2) Officer confronts BG, who is armed with .25 Raven. Officer shoots 4-5 times with .40 Glock, hits BG all times. BG fires back. Bullet enters between ribs, pierces lung and lodges in heart, killing officer. BG limps away to family who, worried, call police to get him medical attention. Bg survives.

Lesson: yeah, a .25 is pretty weak but no one wants to stand in front of one when its going off.

LMAO!!!!

That is hilarious. That's funny, I have a seriously modded install of the original Unreal Tournament on one of my computers, with all sorts of custom weapons packages made by various people, and one of those packages contains the Nuke 50 exactly as you see it on that site! I never knew where they got the idea before. In the game it doesn't quite create a 1.2 kiloton nuclear burst, but it packs a pretty good whollop.

Had two officers at work solemnly swear that "cop killer" bullets were regular ammo "dipped in liquid Teflon", and sold on the streets. Needless to say, they sat there and listed to Sarge, (me), set 'em straight! What a load of hooey!

That Vince Foster committed suicide with an ancient revolver.

That a law abiding citizen living in Washington DC, could find an illegal gun dealer and buy a gun all in one afternoon.

Righhht!

Who is old, grey and cynical. :what:

Did you hear that Colt is going out of business tomorrow? No, it's true this time. Really. No wait. They're already out of business. They were bought by Beretta. Or Taurus. I can't remember.

My all time favorite (not sure if someone mentioned it yet) is that a 5.56mm will go right through you and not do any significant damage.

"High-cap mags will still be the same price after 9/13/04 -- really, it's gonna take awhile before they come in -- if they come in at all. They'll probably pass a new ban before you could get a high-cap mag anyway. You should probably buy one of these $100 G17 mags I've got sitting right in this case...."

Ah well, gun shop owners rarely get rich... but it sure won't be off me.

The more powerful revolver - - -

Back in the early 'sixties, an old maintenance guy in the hospital where I worked explained to me - --
"A Smith and Western .38 is more powerful than a Colt .38 'cause it's a left-hand wheeler."

Being a smart ass kid who had done some reading, I said I understood that most S&Ws had five-groove, right twist rifling. He scornfully and impatiently cleared up that misunderstanding - - "Naw, not the riflen, the CHAMBER. The chamber on a Essen Dubya turns to the LEFT, where a Colt turns RIGHT. Lots more powerful that way."

I realized, again, that young smart alecs shouldn't try to argue with their elders . . . .

;)

Yeah, I miss the ole Smith&Western .38's. Take a man's arm clean off it would.

But only if you hit in the right arm. If you hit him in the left arm, due to the chamber having cycled to the left, it would push his arm clean through his armpit and cause it to lodge in his torso.

I'm surprised noone's mentioned this one:

I had a guy SWEAR to me, totally serious, that the original M-16 was made by Mattel, the toy company. He was totally convinced of this, I couldn't persuade him that it wasn't true.

Also, every pathological liar I've ever known (fortunately few) claimed to own a Desert Eagle. These were guys who didn't own a gun, and probably never had, and given who they were it was probably a Good Thing...

And this one:
......The wounds made by bullets from an automatic weapon are much much worse than from a non-automatic.
Was told to CNN by no less than our very own Broward County Sheriff, Ken Jenne:

He didn't just TELL them, he set up a bogus demonstration. :cuss: :fire:

Many years ago I when I first really started getting into shooting I had a not-so-informed gentlemen tell me that the recoil of shooting a "Colt .45" will cause the gun to smack you in the forehead! Seriously.
