Early Warning, House Intrusion

I believe poodles and boston terriers are other breeds that also have hair, not fur. They don't drop their coat twice a year like other breeds. The best early warning system nature could devise in the last million years.

Tallpine, "The Reporter" is also at NorthernTool.com under security for about $79.00. My parents have one but had a problem with birds setting it off. Correction, it's now on sale for $69.99. I can't get the link thingy to work:confused:

First, my cats trip the intruder by running in front of his legs in the dark. At least that's what they do to me.

Second, I throw my flash-bang at him. It's already expended, but it's pretty heavy and should leave a welt. Maybe I should put it in a sock and beat him with it.

If all that doesn't work then I guess I shoot the guy.

I figure if the intruder is armed, and manages to get upstairs before I get the kids put away, he's less likely to fire shots if I'm unarmed.

I can't see that as a reasonable assumption. Anyone breaking into your house while you are there is an immediate threat to your kids. Anyone breaking in and then coming up stairs is intent on evil not robery. There is no such thing as compassion much less good will to be expected from such a person. I view my sole job as being the barrier between anyone breaking in and my daughter. I can't be effective as that barrier if I'm not armed. My wife can get my daughter, I'll hold the stairs to make sure they're safe.
