I shot my K31 with a 3-9 scope and my 1946 M44 with hand loads using the same 165gr bullets and IMR 4064 power it fact it was almost the same load. The first target is the last four reloads i tried in my M44 and the second target was shot with my K31 five shots four holes at 100yd. I do have a Finn M28 and a M39 that i can shoot at well as the k31 with iron sights.
Here's my suggestion: get a good K-31 first. There are FAR less of them than the Mosins and I promise they'll begin to skyrocket in price soon. Then after you get a K-31, find a Mosin.
Oh yeah...I forgot to post pictures showing why I prefer the K-31's(IF I had to pick between them...which I don't):
I have a Mosin that I just finished modifying to mount a reciever sight. It has a really, really nice barrel and shoots quite well (better than the M39 I used to own), but still not quite as well as any of the K-31's.
Good luck with your decision!

i wouldnt call a mosin a rusted out 1981 chevy cavalier, I would a equate a mosin more to a Dump Truck, and it wont rust any faster than anything else, if you take care of it. I dont have a k31, but i dont think i could break my mosin if i wanted to.
