New Magazines for Schmidt-Rubin K31

The Sportsman's Guide is selling newly manufactured 6 round magazines for the Schmidt Rubin K31 in 7.5 Swiss. I have yet to order any, so I can't comment on workmanship. They are $60, but would beat the heck out of steel reinforced cardboard chargers. (For $40 more, I could get another K31.) Thought I would pass it on anyhow.

Not exactly sure how. Ten chargers, a bandoleer and several hundred rounds of ammo would cost a whole lot less than the $600 that 10 mags would set you back, and be considerably lighter to boot. They're fine if your K-31 is missing it's mag, and you can't find an original; but as you pointed out, another $30-$40 and you can get a whole new rifle.

Along with the fact that you can buy a new rifle for slightly more, I've found that the magazine from one of my K31s will fall right out of my other K31 whenever I shoot it.

IIRC, I read somewhere that the mags are fit to specific rifles.

Yes -- It's especially interesting to discover when shooting rapid fire in a highpower competition. I never thought to test both mags before using the K31.

I don't do that anymore and I've learned to shoot the final 5 shots single shot pretty quickly.
