As promised here is the El Pres contest.

Thanks to everyone that participated is the last challenge. I had fun.

Shoot this as many times as you want and post the video of your best run. Don't post times unless there is a video! If there's no video it didn't happen!

I'm only interested in perfect runs. No adding time for misses. I wan't to see 12 holes in those targets. Hits are hits don't worry about where they are. Of course brownie points will be awarded for fast times with center mass hits.

El Pres rules.

3 human torso sized targets. They can be anything. Just keep them under 24" wide and normal torso hight.

Targets should be 3' on center.

Shooter stands 10 yards from target facing away with hands in surrender position. Handgun in holster on strong side hip. Keep one mag for reload on belt/pocket/holster.

Handgun should be loaded. Load mags with as much ammo as you would like.

At sound of timer turn shoot each target 2 times from right to left or left to right. Shoot as many times as needed to score 2 hits on each. Do not proceed to the next target until 2 hits have been made on previous target.

After 6 hits have been made reload and repeat. Shoot left to right or right to left. There is no need to go to slide lock before reload.

ABOVE ALL BE SAFE When turning don't turn and sweep your camera man/woman with the muzzle.

Post your video with a closeup of targets and shot timer.

I know I won't be getting a chance to do this for a little while so we will let this one run for 2 weeks.

Good luck.
Have fun.

I'm hoping it's slow enough at the range that I can take up 3 lanes to do this drill - Also need to get a couple speed loaders for my snubby (5 shot) to see how long it takes with 2 reloads instead of the one ...

sorry but it would have to be 3 reloads with a 5 shot!! bummer.

We will split up the competition for those that shoot it with revolvers and those with autos

Yeah you're right, I miscounted :)

Here's hoping I can get out there on a slow day :)

(If so, I plan to do the drill with an auto and the revolver)

Remember when shooting with a revolver or auto you need to reload after the first set of targets whether you need it or not.

Man, I reallllllly want to do this. Unfortunately, I gave the FLIP to the ex and just moved to SoCal and don't have a place to shoot yet.

Here you go. I forgot to take a close up of the timer. Oh well, maybe I'll get out and shoot one faster than 4.67 seconds anyway.

Nice shooting. We may have to make a open and stock division so I have a chance. lol.

Thanks guys. I'll try it with some carry gear when the weather improves. I am anticipating the time will double. :)

Well I made it out today before the cold front/storm hit. I shot my Dan Wesson V-Bob. The gun is stock. Holster is an Uncle Mike's paddle holster. The magazine holder is also an Uncle Mike's. The ammo is 230 grain round nose loaded to 730 fps. On the first run I grabbed the magazine for the reload and both the magazine and the holder came off my belt. Kind of hard to load a mag with a holder stuck on the end. The second run was 5.66 seconds with a sluggish reload. The third and final run was 5.38 seconds, again not a great reload...but it is what it is...

oh for Pete's sake! Just because you may not be the fastest doesn't mean everyone doesn't want to see how you did. Post your video and join the challenge. 2nd place is wide open. I will be at the range next weekend and i'll gonna make a run for my best time.

That's pretty blankity-blank quick, Ankeny!

I am going to give this a shot soon. Unfortunately the results will be TOP SECRET:

A. No shot timer.
B. No camera (thanks kids)

But, it'll be good training.

eh...until the contest is over, 1st place is still wide open, so be sure to give it your best ;)

Sorry, no camera and no timer but if I did I would think my times would be off those already posted since I shoot a revolver. Even with Speedloaders reloads are a little slower that with magazines.

Very quick and accurate shooting in those videos, well done!

ok, I wrote in Coolluke1's postal target shoot I'd sit this El Prez contest out, but participation's low, and someone's got to make Ankeny sweat ;), so here's mine:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNFerCV3W4Y&feature=channel&list=UL

I used my IDPA gear - a 4" 686 revolver, a JetLoader, and CompTac holster.

The plates are a little closer than 3' on center, but you'll notice the center plate is a smaller 11" plate, with less than 10% the area of the other 2, so I thought it'd be ok. Besides, there's not much latitude in changing this particular setup.

I didn't quite beat Ankeny. :) I did a few runs, pretty consistent at 6.5 seconds. My best run (the one shown) was 6.33 seconds, which is very good for this wheelgunner . A 1.35 second 1st shot, 2.75 second reload, and 0.20 - 0.22 second splits/transitions.

Found a place to shoot! Heading out today to practice, then hopefully video Monday!

I was only able to make one run at it because we had a ton of shooters at the match today. I have done better but this is what I was able to record.
I usually like to run el prez a few times and get in a groove first. Shooting it cold for a good time is rough.

7:22 Glock 34 Gen 4. Fobus holsters.

We did inspect the targets and they RO showed 4 hits on each. Had to take a few extra after my brain fart on the first string on the third target. I almost went for the reload one target to early.

This was fun to do. I hope to be able to run this a few more times some day.

Took a few tries, but I managed a 3.94 second run: http://youtu.be/fk-dDVA5vTI

Also shot it with my 500ES, but only managed a 20.63 second run. Three reloads really hurts the time. :D http://youtu.be/Bfq5mEGAa8c

El Presidente Video Contest.

--------------------
As promised here is the El Pres contest.

Oh so THIS is the El Pres contest mentioned on the other threads.

I thought "El Pres" stood for Elvis Presley and you were supposed to shoot at your TV's, or something.

The third and final run was 5.38 seconds, again not a great reload...but it is what it is...
That is blazing

I loved watching the 1911 flip that us older shooters use during reloads...I'm sure younger guys have no idea what I'm referring to
