I smell a rat. Somewhere lying in their murky anti minds is a plan.

This ^^^^

This move by Rahm and the City Council would moot the SAF suit Ezell v. Chicago prior to Chicago getting their 'behinds' handed to them by the 7th Circuit. Chicago is trying to avoid paying anymore to Gura in legal fees.

You have to wonder when the other shoe is going to drop, and what it will be. I hate to be cynical, but we are talking about Chicago.

Well, the sign in sheet at the range would make for a nice defacto registration list...

There already is a registration list. It's called the FOID card. As for non-residents, who would go to a range in Chicago if it could be avoided?

If the city waits for the ban on gun ranges to be overturned, it would be in the unenviable position of having the court dictate an ordinance that could be far less restrictive.

Already heard of some of the restrictions on these ranges in Chicago....:barf:

"Chicago ranges would be confined to areas zoned for manufacturing, but that’s only the baseline. Gun ranges would also be prohibited within 1,000 feet of a school, park, place of worship, day care center, liquor store, library, museum, hospital or residential district.

The mayor’s ordinance also mandates that Chicago gun ranges be enclosed and mandates the type of construction. They could operate, only between the hours of 9 a.m. and 8 p.m."

WHOOOOOOO in their right mind would open a business inside the city limits of Chicago, much less a firearms related business?

So your saying they shouldn't open up gun ranges nor one day (hopefully in the near future) gun stores?

Remember, this is just a temporary injunction, there's still a very long way to go. All it really means is the city can't enforce this law while the challenge is still going through the courts.

Maybe Rahm thinks that gun ranges are the perfect place for a gun exchange program. You come to the range to shoot, the PD take your gun and give you a citation in return for illegal transport. The city sells the gun and also gets your payment for the citation. Win/win for Chicago!

Maybe they're going to use the roach motel model, you know, roaches check in but they don't check out. Now, just replace the word roach with gun.

In her majority opinion, Judge Sykes wrote, “It’s hard to imagine anyone suggesting that Chicago may prohibit the exercise of a free-speech or religious-liberty right within its borders on the rationale that those rights may be freely enjoyed in the suburbs. That sort of argument should be no less unimaginable in the Second Amendment context.”

Thanks, Judge! That's well said!
