Hi y’all,
I’m a bit disappointed as I have a cool sporterized Smle with a non adjustable rear sight. Windage is off so I bought a sight that said it was windage adjustable. Unfortunately the wheel only turns a little and it doesn’t move. I suspect the pin in the middle there is the culprit. Is it possible to remove this pin to make windage adjustable or am I wasting my time ?

Ya, they riveted the windage adjustment in place since later operating theory was that troops couldn't be trusted to mess with it and it would be set at the factory or repair facility by pushing the front post left/riight.

Later marks of rear sights eliminated the wheel altogether.

If you grind away the rivet head, you should be able to knock out the pin and use the adjustment.

That looks to be a #3 rear sight. Mostly, zero was set drifting the front sight.
I would rather try drilling out the pin instead of grinding.
