What would be a good entry level Over Under 12ga. with ejectors ? Doesn’t have to be pretty just a decent brand where I can get parts if the ejectors break . Thank you in advance.
General purpose kind of shotgun . Will probably be in my truck most of the time .If I get to the addictive stage with sporting clays I’ll spend the money and buy something better . I’ll look at the Mossberg . I know once you go to ejectors the price range goes up . What was your CZ experience? I was looking at those .What for? That really determines what constitutes “entry level”. Let’s go with entry level being budget driven?
Assuming we are talking occasional clays and maybe some upland bird, a few thousand rounds per year, a used Browning or Miroku (makers of most of the cost effective Brownings) or one of the Italians would get you a good reliable gun with parts availability. Depending on intended use, an older fixed choke gun (IC/M) will likely be cheaper.
If it has to be new, the Huglu made guns imported by CZ USA are potentially viable. And while I have neither good experience with nor much in the way of good words about them, the Turkish made Mossberg Silver Reserve is at least going to have you dealing with reputable customer service.
I said entry level and decent brand . I know good and cheap doesn’t happen . Anything with ejectors seem to start at $700 . That may be cheap for what I’m looking for . I don’t know, which is why I asked .Buy the cheapest one you can find. This will save time to move you on to a decent gun, and then you too will be able to respond authoritatively to future queries about what is a good cheap/starter/budget/etc. O/U. There ain't none.
Because that’s what I want . No I don’t “need “ ejectors.What makes ejectors a necessity for a truck gun?
I’ll look at those . Thank youWhy an O/U for s truck gun? makes no sense to me. Entry level O/Us - under ~$1200 new are typically poorly made and poorly regulated; something else will break before the ejectors. Used, you might find a Miroku or Japanese SKB for around $1200
Browning and Berreta keeps coming up . Thank youOne of the "B" guns would be my recommendation. Browning or Beretta will serve you well. Choose the model and brand that fits you the best and have fun You can get them new for about $2K or used as little as about $1200 in good condition depending on how picky you are about barrel length etc. I have three gauges (12,20,28) of the Beretta 686 models and enjoy them thoroughly. Be patient and you will find what you want. View attachment 960926 View attachment 960927 View attachment 960928
I asked a guy I know a similar question a while back and he said in a new gun he would choose a CZ. He shoots a Krieghoff competitively. I appreciated the fact that he didn't tell me how stupid I was for wanting to spend somewhere around $1,000 since he shoots a $15,000 gun.
I’ve dealt with Weatherby customer service, it is outstanding. I’ve dealt with CZ customer service and it was really good too.The big question is what is CZ USA customer service like? I don;t know. The Weatherby Orion is within $50 - $100 of the CZ guns and Weatherby customer service is absolutely first class.
My first choice would be a used B gun. Second would be a new Franchi. Third would be a Weatherby. I would not by a CZ. While I love their rifles and handguns I don’t care for their shotguns. Have owned two which had the heaviest trigger pulls of any shotgun I’ve ever shot. Fit and finish wasn’t great either which I can overlook if function is good. It also has nothing to do with them being made in Turkey, I have a couple of Turkish shotguns I’m very happy with.New Franchi Instinct L's go for about $1200. Way too nice for a truck gun though.
Not when I think about how many I have through one of my Brownings.................I can put 1400 through a gun in a month without even thinking.1400 shells is not that many.
