It depends ……
I’ve bought guns, and been satisfied with what I got and the price I paid. But I don’t look for guns, and especially those that are in short supply and subject to high demand.
Instead I look for parts, accessories, gun-leather, grips, sights and publications (recently bought a 1930’s S&W parts-list book that is invaluable if you’re trying to figure out what makes an old-timer work).
On another occasion I found a Colt Army Special .38 on a different auction that went cheap (under $50.00) because the barrel was split at the throat. Then on Gunbroker I found a barrel, that was either new, or like new, for $20.00. By gosh, they were singing my song.
So to answer your question, yes I’ve gotten some very good deals, but I know how to look for them.
