Ever use WinClean ammo?

Bought some accidentially (like the OP), used it in my P-3AT and had the first (and second) FTE I've ever had with that gun. Shot up the rest of the box and haven't bought any more.

The truncated cone nose shape will either work in your
auto pistol or it will not work. Some guns feed it fine, others
do not. I never had a problem with WinClean in my revolvers.
I may have been lucky with my two autoloading pistols.
Obviously others have not been lucky with theirs.

I shoot Winclean in six different guns, never had an ammo relates issue. 1911's seem to by a bit picky, or maybe it has nothing to do with the ammo.

My indoorrange requires that we use Winclean. There is a price premium on this stuff, how bad dod they get ya?

My subjective opinion is that it's noticably underpowered in .45acp. I haven't chronoed it though, and indoor ranges that require its use is a deal killer for me.

scorpiusdeus, you must shoot at Shooters Paradise in Oxnard. Do you know of anywhere else that you can buy the stuff? Same place I shoot. Just got my membership there. First time in I shot 100 rounds of Winchester value pack 9mm from walmart and they didnt say anything, next time they wanted to check my ammo and said I couldnt use it (wasnt aware of the restriction as I have never shot at an indoor range). They sold me a box of 50 of their reloads for like 12.00 or something like that, almost what I paid for the 100 rd value pak.

.357 magnum 125 gr Winclean is one of the best things to shoot if you want to be really obnoxious. Makes a massive, bright orange flash, about 8" wide, plainly visible if you're in shade. People'll think you're shooting a .454 casull or something. Lots of fun. Good for making sure the guy next to you doesn't make you look bad. Wear eye protection though, I've been pegged in the forehead by powder grains a few times.

It was very weak though, about as much felt recoil as the old Remington 130 gr .38 stuff, which was rated at 820 fps or so from a 4" barrel. Very likely that the entire Winclean line is underpowered. Actually, regular Winchester white box FMJs in 165 gr .40 S&W have a lot less felt recoil than the other stuff I've tried, so it may be Winchester, period.

Cool, a neighbor. I buy mine 500/1000 rounds at a time from MidwayUSA online. They used to have the best price. Since the price increase, I went to www.ammoman.com and ordered 2000 rounds of Speer Lawmen lead less. On Midway USA, the Fiocchi is the best deal IF it's in stock. The only issue I have with the Fiocchi is that it seems to be loaded a little hot.

How often do you head out shooting? If your interested, my buddy and I go to some outdoor ranges in L.A. on various weekends. We'd be happy to have you come along.

It's always nice to meet fellow enthusiasts from the local area.

I had only 1 failures of any sort. That was a failure to fire. I don't know if it was a defective primer or what. But the firing pin simply went "click". But, given the number of courses that I have had means that I have fire between 5,000 to 7,500 rounds in class. With only 1 failure?!

I just got back from Specialty Sports (a gun store here in Colorado) and was told they have been having problems with white box winchester ammo giving squibs and such on a regular basis. The particular ammo was bought from Walmart so I dont know if that has anything to do with it but its still pretty scary. I for one will now use up the white box winchester I have and not buy another box.

My indoor range requires TMJ ammo. Winclean is a little too pricey at the stores near me, so I typically use Lawman or American Eagle .45 230gr. TMJ. Neither has ever malfunctioned in my Ruger P97. Lawman is probably better quality, but American Eagle is less expensive.

I used it in 9mm and .380 when I had guns in those calibers. I didn't like it.

I don't have those guns anymore and don't use it anymore for my current guns.

I didn't feel it fed well and something about it just wasn't right (I can't remember if it was accuracy, velocity, or recoil related though as it was a while ago I think when it first came out)

A buddy chrono'ed the .45 winclean...836fps from a 4.5" Ruger p97..FYI
We've started using the cci clean fire...huge fireball and smelly, but accurate and reliable so far.And cheaper than Winclean.Like $13 /box from some on line place.(Strechers or something like that.)

I've seen the WinClean ammo cause feeding problems in some pistols...probably the nose profile...if your pistol has a heavier than normal recoil spring, that "could" make it even worse...I'd stick with your usual ammo.
