Eveyone is selling their assault rifles!

By this summer, won't those who assumed that ARs/AKs would by then become extinct, finally realize that their jobs are even more at risk, and will sell their surplus rifles in order to raise cash for high electric bills and, for so many, higher medical deductibles? Older cars need repairs in the heat and are not recession-proof. Neither are high repair bills.
It will be too hot to shoot comfortably in July-August in so much of the country, except very early or late.

I hope for the best for GM, Chrysler and Ford workers/mgmt, but the numbers are not good. Those working at US Nissan (Canton, MS), Toyota plants etc might have unneeded rifles very soon. And this is just one industry.

This panic has happened because of past actions, words and present sheep herd mentality. People keep saying "wolf", but no wolves are seen (after many weeks, no passed legislation/orders).
When will this sink in, only after two more years or so if things remain the same?
Both Dems and GOP types always want to get re-elected, and are familiar with the fact that some were not in the 90's due to ludicrous talk or votes.

Yeah...somehow I think that wouldn't go over well and you'd get people who follow the "...from my cold dead hands" method rising up against such action.

You, Sir, just said a mouthful. If they start trying to confiscate guns its on like donkey kong.

In the current economy I think guns and gold are probably your best buys. I don't advocate spending money you don't have. There was a time when all I had was a .22 marlin, a .357 blackhawk and an SKS. But I can afford more now. If I choose to invest in mags, guns, and ammo then that is based on wanting/needing for use or to sell later. Or give to my children, who knows.

People probably maxed out their CC to get a pile of rifles.

A nasty new trick, the CC companies will lower your CC limit on whim.

So people with 10 AR 15's and a pile of CC debt realize their new limit puts them over the CC limit.

No they owe a boatload on the CC...

So they have to sell to get out of the hole ASAP...

What gun monkey has the money to buy two $1000.00 rifles and sit on it for a year for a $500.00 dollar profit? I can think of alot better things to invest that money in.

Oh really!

If I had bank rolled my ESOP/401K into AK parts kits last summer I could have tripled my money... nothing else in the current market can match that

Lets see something on the dow match that...

Plus every dollar spent trickles through the gun shop, manufacturers, faw material suppliers shipping. Where the current politicians have managed to scare the **** out of everyone so that 92%-95% of house holds that have not been effected by unemployment or foreclosure aren't spending. So maybe we will at least keep the firearm industry alive where the automobile industry is suffering.

I'm not selling mine anytime soon. Maybe Jan. 2013, but not before.
I've got a U.S. gov't mid 2010 prediction and mayan calender 12/21/12 prediction to live thru first, then mayne I'll want to unload my guns and some of my ammo.

Maybe this is academic like many of my comments, but on the ABCNEWS website, type in the blank "Eric Holder assault weapons". A paragraph describes his concern over the Mexican drug gangs' receiving AKs from the US.

Later it turned out that the Obama admin. had not approved his comments on any type of ban. There are indications elsewhere that Dems in general do not want to pursue this, because a political price will be paid sometime down the road.
