Another reason is that those guys might have called the cops and reported that you were "brandishing." Since you were in your own home, where they didn't belong, it probably wouldn't result in charges being filed--but as Mas Ayoob says, "Whoever reports it first is the victim." Instead of a police file about your cool-headed response to two intruders, there'd be a file saying that you drew down on two innocent kids at the wrong address.

Either way, though, the file would mention the unlocked door. A prosecutor might have some fun with that if you ever discharge your firearm in self-defense. But that's a minor consideration.
