quick question -nWhere can I find an extended magazine tube for a mossberg 930 and a mossberg 500??

Far as I know, Choate makes the extension Mossberg uses on the factory guns that have them. I got the extension on my 930 from Choate anyway. http://www.RifleStock.com/catalog_p...ductCode=27&ProductSubCodeID=178&NewProduct=0

For the Mossberg 500, you can't use an extension- you'll have to replace the magazine tube and get a barrel that is set up for the longer magazine as well. Some folks do it, but you need to examine the cost- likely it would be less expensive just to buy a used 8-shot 500.

I'd try MidwayUSA for those models. I'm ordering a Choate simply because its actually steel, not plastic or fiberglass, and seems to be well built compared to some others I've checked on.

The Choate Extension - Is it easy to install? Do I need anything else to install it? Choate says it comes in blued matte, will that match the shotgun? I guess this extension will make it a 930 spx minus the pistol grip.


Also can you add a foregrip to the 930?

The Choate comes as a complete kit. You won't need anything else.
The Choate blued unit is a satin blue/black so it matches most blued guns.

Installation should be easy. With most shotguns you basically unscrew the magazine cap, remove the barrel, and remove the magazine spring assembly.

Install the new Choate magazine follower (if you want it) install the barrel, install the new spring, install the extension tube on the gun, then install the barrel clamp.

you could purchase a magazine tube for an 835 and an 18.5" barrel for a 590 and use a Max100 extension on your 500. but itll be close to the price of a gun the way you want, and you'll be waiting awhile.


Being a fan of Max100's work, I'd check to see if he has or is working on any 930 extensions. I have owned Choate prpoducts and theyre good, but the Max100 590a1 was and IS (soon enough, ) a superior extension to the Choate 870 extension I had.

For the Mossy 500, you're SOL if it's a 5/6 shot. You need to get a new mag tube plus you will need different barrels.

The 930 should be the same as the 935.
