i own a Kimber Pro Carry 2 chambered in .45 ACP and wanted to be able to fire +P ammo through it. im wondering if the Wolff extra power recoil and firing pin spring set are what i need. here is the link to the item from Brownell's : http://www.brownells.com/aspx/ns/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=21235&title=KIMBER~%20EXTRA%20POWER%20RECOIL%20&%20FIRING%20PIN%20SPRING

it seems most +P ammo is a lighter load (185gr instead of 230) with more powder behind the round. is this what the wolff springs are designed for? i apologise in advance for my newb questions... im new to the 1911 scene but am loving it. cheers

I like to steer clear of +P in 45, especially in an alloy frame 1911. I didn't even want 45 in my 4", so I got it in 9mm. The aluminum frame takes enough of a beating in 45 without those hot loads. If you just want the +P loads for defense, use the XP to fire enough rounds to ensure reliability and proficiency with the load. Then swap out springs and shoot regular ball ammo for range time. This is what I would do if I wanted +P for defense. I think 45 is great at regular pressures.

replacing springs on a kimber pro carry??? takes about 15 seconds if you are challenged.

easy as pie!

I shoot +PDPX 185 in my Commanders , Steel and LTW ,Officer acp and Defender I have never changed from factory spring weight.
To me felt recoil no worst than 230ball.
