Extreme shock ammo?

Well I know of the claims of this company but I'm not sure it can be trusted yet. I currently use Critical Defense from Hornady but the local gun shop says that Extreme shock is the best thing on the market. Is that true or is it bull. I'm not really willing to buy 6 rounds for 20 buck's to test it out. I kinda think it falls into the "Speed kills" area using light bullets pushed at high speeds. Is it reliable, is it effective, or is it all hype?

I like the Critical Defense stuff you already have. The hollowpoint is built to not get clogged. I think the idea is that the little shards are going to hit vital organs (lungs, heart, etc...). But I think your current selection would deliver a much greater "umph." I think a bad guy/gal would feel it more from an expanded 115 grain bullet than light-weight particles that might make it past their rib cage.

I see this Extreme Shock stuff in the same way as the .22lr. Both have potential killing ability. However, I think the Hornady ammo has a greater chance at one-shot stops. You don't want to have to wait for an angry meth addict to stop their attack.

Im constantly find it shocking that marketing always reaches the one person willing to open wallet.

Sure you might do a bit a damage with any ammuntion fired from a weapon that uses explosive to eject a projectile at someone; maybe even kill.

But I prefer to stay with the well known and respected Ammuntion that has been proven and for me there are a number of these such as Speer.

I personally perfer that the bullet gets into the target and stays in that target doing as much damage as possible. That way if the person survives the courts dont go tearing me up about how the doctors needed to work 30 hours digging out extreme numbers of tiny peices of bullet.

In fact, I prefer that the ammuntion work well, even against those incapable via narcotics or other problems of reacting normally to the hit and aborting thier assault. Berserkers are the absolute worse kind of attacker.

So. How do you want to go? With a gun that will protect you with the right ammuntion or do you want to bet the life of you and your family to something that will only make perp mad-mad?

I would say that the box o' truth answered that question nicely, if the folks who market ES ammo had a rebuttal, I think they would go public with it.
Isn't this the same company that makes the "Air Freedom" round ... not quite claiming that it is the same ammo carried by US Air Marshals? I question that marketing, and the idea that what works best for Air Marshals (How many shots were fired by Air Marshals in the last 20 years, anyway?) is a good choice for HD/PD/SD.

Not only is it bull, I'm not at all convinced that your critical defense ammo expands any more consistently than most other premium JHP ammo.

If you want to trust your life to them, you need to shoot 200 of them in the weapon you are going to use for defense.

I don't believe Hornady CD expands any different than any other HP ammo. It just has a XTP bullet with a rubber piece just to stop it from getting clogged with clothing.

What you're using is fine. If you have any doubts about it, get some Federal HSTs. They're better, but the difference would be too small to measure, if such things were measurable in real-life shootings.
