Has anyone tried this ammo before? I am wondering since I read the article on Gunblast by Jeff Quinn in which he used a 9mm to take down a 300lbs boar with one shot. Though I am not sure I trust is reviews to be completely subjective. The Extreme shock ammo site looks like it was done by Mall Ninjas. Is this serious ammo or marketing hype.

That site has more sponsors than articles, doesn't it?

FWIW, when I lived in Alaska the trophy Moose that year was shot with a .22 LR rimfire right bewteen the eyes. Made me realize that any bullet put in the right spot can drop what you're aiming at. Betcha that boar was shot in the head, right?

i have read a few gun articles in various gun magazines where they used it as part of the accuracy testing, nothing spectacular. and they never really say anything about it, it is just in the chart with the group sizes, velocities and description of the ammo. i wouldn't buy any there is just to much other stuff out there that works, and it has been used in real world conditions. i will stick with that.

It's overpriced gimmick ammo with marketing designed to draw in the mall-ninja market.

"Match Grade Anti Terrorist Munitions"

Just read the front of the box. That was all I needed to know. Oh, and it has "Tungsten NyTrillium Composite".

Yeah, whatever.

Aren't all those the same guy? ;)

There is only so much power you can pack into a cartridge that is about the size of the tip of your little finger.

NyTrillium... isn't that the main ingredient in the fuel used to power interstellar spacecraft?

Those trauma plates taped to your back may stop multiple .308 rounds, but is no match for Extreme Shock ammo!
I think you can get them out of the coin operated gumball machine between the mike and ikes and skittles at the mall.

If it performed approximately as advertised and cost $50.00 per 1000 I still wouldn't buy it.

There are limits to the type of packaging I'll permit into my home.

For those that worry about what the legal aftermath of a shooting, this stuff should open up a whole new area of spirited speculation.

Mall ninja ammo. Anyone can draw something fierce looking on paper, get Corbin to make the swaging setup for making the bullets, load it and market it themselves, without sound engineering and design behind it. Heck, Corbin will even sell you various powdered metals to press into bullets. You can call the mixture anything you want, even nytrillium. The sad part is how many people fall for it. The marketing itself should be enough of a warning.

Please please please do not use this ammo! It is far too powerful and deadly. I read a story where one extreme shock 9mm round killed 19 terrorists and then embedded itself into planet mars. On it's way there it took out 11 alien flying saucers and over a dozen meteors. This is far too deadly for even the most highly trained mall ninjas. Don't kid yourself, this stuff is no joke!

Have any of the people who are bashing the ammo, read the article about the one shot kill of the boar. That seems to show that it does work. Maybe some people don't like the packaging but that is my concern. Seriously, has anyone have any experience with this ammo? I don't want to read more about people not liking the market I really want to know about this ammo.

I read the article as well as the BoxOTruth link.

The BoxOTruth isn't showing anything remarkable and a dead pig is a dead pig - too many variables to attribute anything specifically to the ammo. IOW, I wouldn't know if it'd been one particle different with a 9mm HST and likely nobody else does either.

Actual side by side tests against something like golden sabres, HSTs and Glaser would be interesting but I know of no such controlled study.

CSBYTE - Have you checked out the link to the Box O' Truth provided earlier in the thread? Or do you believe everything you read? I can write an article about how I dropped a 500 lb kodiak with one well-placed blast from my red ryder bb gun, but that don't mean it's true.

Look at what LEos carry. Do they carry Extreme Shock Mall-Ninja ammo? No.

They carry time-tested and proven JHPs.

Don't believe the hype.

Here's some reading:

The concensus seems to be poor penetration on par with any other frangible round. The round in the article you linked was their deep penetration-whatnot round which I haven't seen any tests for. The tests on their website seem shady (considering the results of independant tests) and that article of yours was the only positive review for the stuff I've seen.
Try some out if you want.
I'll stick with ammo that's been proven

They have done testing but the guy missed and it went into space. Thats the real reason why Pluto is no longer a planet.
