I own an STG 58 that was assembled from a parts kit and a DSA reciever. I really haven't played with it much, but decided today to dig it out and get it cleaned up and start shooting it more.
So one of the first things that struck me is that I would like to put a little bit better looking furniture on it, if possible. What is out there ? Where do you get it ? Is there any real nice, good quality stuff: I have seen a few things that looked cheap to me. For example, the issue handguards are metal. This doesn't sound like a good idea to me, surely it would get real hot ?
I disassembled the rifle and noticed that the spring on the gas pistol is kinked in one place. It will work as is, but where would I get another one ? I normally buy springs from Wolff, but they don't show any FAL springs other than magazine springs ?
What about flash suppressors ? I could do without that great big STG 58 flash suppressor that I belive was designed to cut barbed wire with a bullet ?

Where do you buy your FAL junk. What kind of cool stuff have you put on yours or done to yours. Where do you find out information about it ?

FALfiles is a good place to find a lot of general knowledge, of course....

As far as parts, DSA has the greatest variety and concentration of them in one place. They are pricey though. The best FAL mags I've seen come from CDNN. As far as handguards, plastic and wood are both considered to be generally better than metal.

Check Tapco,

I don't know about fit (inch vs. metric), but at the prices they got I doubt you can go wrong.

They also have other stuff, like picatinny rails and receiver covers.

But if you remove them it won't be a "true" STG-58! :)

I really like the DSA X-furniture. I bought a set for the STG-58 I'm building. It's very nice.

You can get it from www.brownells.com with a discount if you have a C&R licence.

Yep, they sure will. I have a Penguin buttstock and pistol grip on my Imbel with metal STG-58 handguards. I wrapped paracord the handguards because they were too hot to hold after shooting a couple mags in the summer. They do look nice though.

All the springs in my FALs came from Falcon Arms:

Here's a list of FAL vendors:

I've had good luck with Gunthings, Volunteer Ordnance Works, Arizona Response Systems, and DSA. Much of my stuff came from the FALFiles Marketplace though.
