Familial Bad Luck With Ruger Revolvers

Maybe I'm wrong but isn't that an older GP-100? I thought Ruger had stopped using the removable front sight long time ago? The pictures show the plunger that makes the front sight blade removable so I"m guessing its an older gun. Has the owner done damage to the bore or is that from Ruger itself? Looking at the Ruger website all the front sights are dovetailed in now. I'm just guessing here. Anyway whatever it is I am sure Ruger will make it right.

That might be the Super Redhawk.

Unless something changed very recently.

Hard to imagine how that guy’d damage it with such finesse.

The bore was shineeey.

Since getting my first Ruger in the fifties I have had only one problem and that was an early blued Redhawk that refused to group anywhere worthwhile no matter what I loaded for it. No tight spots in the barrel, chambers uniformly sized at .429-.430 and timing impeccable.
Gave up and sold it.
Dozens before and after and no problems. I've bought a few abused orphans and Ruger rebuilt them on their dime.
Maybe you are cursed.

Man this really makes me not want to buy a revolver cause with my luck (I'm Murphy's Law Personified) I'd get one that had a barrel just like yours... I'll stick with my 1911 and Glock 21. Both work great!

Who committed the great NFA sin?

The owner who purchased it legally?

The FFL who let go of it as a rifled firearm?

Or Ruger?
The first person they're going to go after if it becomes an issue is the person who currently has it in their possession.

If that were my gun, I would want to get it out of my possession and back to the manufacturer just as quickly as possible.
