I called Burris about a way the intensity of the red dot could be adjusted on the unit as it is too bright for me. The solution was to put a small piece of black electrical tape over the electric eye ( a little dot in the front of the unit below the glass). This is the same as putting the storage cover on but then that doesn't really turn it off either unless you use the switch. The dot just dims to the lowest power save mode which in my case is just about perfect. I am using the unit on target pistols for bullseye shooting and not some tactical type competition where quick sight acquisition is essential. Of course if I ever need the brighter light then off with the tape. Maybe I should experiment with different color tape for different dot intensity.
