i like the glock 30 because it holds 10 plus1 or it will take the 21 mag that holds 13 plus one. Thats alot of rounds in a compact 45 and it shoots great and i've never had a malfunction with it. Makes a good carry gun and a good night stand gun. i like it better than the xdm 45 i had. i sold it for money towards my hk usp 40c.

My Stoeger Cougar 8045 with a Viridian C5L laser/light. Excellent gun at an excellent price ($450 NIB).

Does anyone own both sig and HK in 45? I'd be interested on their thoughts.

For a 1911 Ive picked out a DW CCOBob or Vbob :) but I want someone else that shoots the 45!

Not much Love for the XD, eh? I've had my XD 45 compact for several thousand rounds without a hiccup. Carries well in a CrossBreed Supertuck and is very very accurate.

I also have and carry an S&W 4566. Uber-reliable, it will cycle empty cases. A bit heavy for EDC, but it rides in my truck console everywhere I go.

XDs never caught my eye. I don't know. Will rent one before I make a purchase on 45 tho. Nice choice on CB Holster:) I have my G23 in mine now.

Although I have owned several different non-1911 .45 acp pistols, the only one I own currently is a Kahr P45. Thin, exceptionally light weight (18.5 oz), accurate and reliable.

I'm partial to the Glock 30. Also the Ruger P345. I'm lusting for a SIG P220 right now.

I have the full sized XD in .45 and love it. The grip angle is the same as the 1911 and it holds 14 rounds but still fits my small hands. I think that it is an improvement over the 25year older Glock design that feels like a brick in my hand.

Rent an XDm .45 before you decide. To me this is a two gun race between the Glock 21 and the XDm .45 ACP. I thought about an FNP-USG before I bought the XDm but decided otherwise after hearing complaints on the FNH board. In fact, I decided on the XDm as soon it was announced in .45 ACP and bought one sight unseen. I love it. Interchangeable backstraps allowed me to fit the pistol to my hand and the conventional rifling allows you to effectively shoot cast handloads whereas the Glock comes up short without an aftermarket barrel. The CZ-97 is also a nice piece except that it is very large. The XDm is very accurate also.;)

I have both the P220 (W.Ger) and HK45. I am on a 1911 kick, and the HK is new so my P220 is taking the back seat. Both of mine have had their triggers smoothed over, but out of the box the Sigs trigger was better. Can't go wrong with either one. They both have their pros and cons, but for me right now the HK is on my hip.

The Sig is waiting for the SRT parts right now. I'll see if it my preference tilts back.

I like P220s

and I have four of them (German, SAS DAK, Compact and...) my current favorite and newest P220 born Jan 2011. A short run of no rail, no tail and old style trigger.

Like my pre-"tear-down" Sig 220 a lot, but find I really love my S&W 4566, a lightly-used police trade-in:

It's a great shooter, holds 8+1, and the 4.25" "Commander" slide and slim profile allow it to conceal well.

Lately, I've been having a blast with this tiny thing.:

When I was looking at a good CC pistol in .45ACP, I narrowed it down to either Glock, Sig, or HK. When I was a Border Patrol Agent, for awhile I carried a Sig Sauer P220. At the time, agents could carry their own personally owned pistol, so I took advantage of that and did so. Later in my career, while in INS as a criminal investigator, I carried an HK USP Compact in .40S&W with the LEM trigger. I absolutely loved it. Then Homeland Security was created and we carried the U.S. Customs Glock 19.

I found when I looked at the Glock 45 pistols that the grip was entirely too big for my smaller hands. I figured if I couldn't hold it in my hands correctly, then I wouldn't shoot it well. I then thought about another P220, which are excellent pistols. However, for me, I found Sigs to have a higher muzzle flip that any other pistol I had shot simply because the Sigs are very tall pistols, and the slide recoils back over my carry hand higher than anything else, so more muzzle flip.

When I finally held my HK45CT, I knew I had found the absolute best pistol made in .45ACP (IMO:)). It fits my hand very well, conceals very well, and has less recoil than the Colt 1911 I carried for awhile while in the BP. Plus, the quality is excellent.

Everyone's hands are different also, so keep searching until you find something that is of high quality and that you can bet your life on. For me personally, it was the HK45CT. Good luck with your search for your pistol!

Sig 220 is excellent and I carry it often. However for the money it is hard to beat the M&P full sized 45.

I've got a Glock 21SF with night sights on the nightstand. Great pistol.

I frequently carry a Kahr CW45 which I'm also quite fond of.

I really love the ergonomics of the P220. It feels good in hand and the controls make sense. Very accurate and reliable as well.

My favorite non 1911 .45 ACP - CZ97
