Years ago I purchased a PA63 in 8x18. I purchased a barrel from Numrich Arms for .380 ACP and installed it. It was easy and it worked. A friend ask if buying a PA63 was a good idea and I explained the steps I had taken to get to a common easy to find amunition for this gun. He then purchased the gun. Now I am the bad guy because we can't find a barrel replacement for .380 ACP for his new PA63.
Does anybody know where I can purchase a barrel for a PA63 in.380 ACP?
Help

Why would you install a .380 barrel on a PA-63 FEG?
The 9x18mak is a nicer round for self defense and ammo procurement.

.380 isn't as easy to find as 9x18mak. Order it online, it costs around $10 per 50 for Russian steel cased 9x18mak ammo.

Hornady makes a HP self defense load if that is of interest to you for 9x18mak.

Just say no to the conversion!

.380 ammo is much harder to find than 9x18 these days and more expensive too. I've seen .380 go for as high as $30 for a box of 50. 9x18 is cheap, plentiful, and has more energy.

None of the hollow point ammo currently available in 9x18mm penetrates enough. Stick with fast FMJ for self defense.

What everyone else is saying. Why trade into 9x17(.380) when it is set up for 9x18? Over the past year my buddy can't find ammo for his .380, yet the Mak round is everywhere, and for cheap.

Keep the PA-63 the way that it is IMO. Great Walther PP copy.

I have a PA-63 as well and I really like mine so I have to agree with everyone so far to keep it a 9mm Mak. However, it's your friends pistol and his choice. I believe that the .380 version is called PMK-380. After digging a little on some Mak sites I believe the best place to look is http://www.ssmedwi.com/. I think you have to call about parts.

I would strongly suggest though to give it a chance in 9mm Mak. I did a range report a little while back along with a few cheap upgrades that I performed that enhanced it.

Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

I have a FEG PA63 and I would not change the caliber.

The gun hurts my hand a little so I wear a glove when shooting it, but other than that, it's good in 9x18

My Dad and I have matching FEG's and one thing we noticed was that it feels more accurate than most of my hanguns! That may be an illusion because of the little precision sights it has, but the end effect was I was shooting empty shotgun shells off a log at 15 yards which is really good for me, I'm not usually a very good shooter.

I did the conversion thing years ago to my Tokarev when 7.62x25 was nearly impossible to find here in the states. Now it's cheaper than 9mm, and can be bought as milsurp in bulk. Now I've changed back. Fortunately, I never did get around to converting my PA. Look at all the hassle I've avoided.

What are you smoking??? 9x18 is more common world-wide. 9x18 is easier to get today in the united states. 9x18 is cheaper than any other ammunition, including 9x19 9mm luger/para. And 9x18 is a better defensive round than a 380. There is absolutely NOTHING better about a 380. Especially out of the same exact gun. What were you thinking? I can see a 380 when it's in a micro-gun like an LCP or similar; but head to head, there is absolutely NOTHING that is an advantage of having a 380 PA-63 over the 9x18 magarov caliber.

Now they do make an exact twin to the PA-63 in 32acp caliber. It's the AP-MBP. Most all of the parts are interchangeable. Except barrel/slide and magazine. But even 32acp is easier and cheaper to find than 380. I just all I could carry at sportsmanswearhouse for $14 a box. But 380 over 9x18 makarov??? As they say in school..... "JUST SAY NO"!!!!

I agree with the above disagreement. Once one puts in some reasonable hammer and recoil springs, it's a very nice pistol. It's reliable, light, simple and accurate. It's my jacket-weather carry gun. And, cheap-o Fiocchi FMJ rates at 267 ft lbs.

The original grips, I do not like. The bump on the left one has to go; it makes the gun a bit fatter.
