FEG PJK-9HP Opinions?

I have detail stripped it several times and enjoy the fact that it is a handgun that I can "tinker" with.

That's what I enjoyed about mine. I think I actually miss it.

Gvass, a Magyar van mint rossz mint bánya. ;) Watch your language.:D .:Never could read/write in the mother tongue.

Don't miss it too long, buy another!!!

Well it isn't a FEG, but I've got an FM Argentine on the way from a fellow THR member. :) The finish on the FMs looks like it will agree with my body chemistry a LOT better than the bluing on FEGs.

But hey -- it's a Hi Power! ;)

Hi there Wes,

Does it look like this:

I bought this used from a gunshop for $225.00.

It is getting a extractoronomy this week as the extractor has been worn beyond reliable extraction at no charge since the FM came with a 1 year warranty.

Hi Chris. Actually, I don't know... I haven't seen it yet, but it is an M90, so I believe it is a generation later than that one. I should have it in about another week, so I'll post pics when I get it. ;)

That one is gorgeous! I love that finish. It looks like it shoots, too! How is the trigger on that one?

What is it about HPs that makes them more addicting than chocolate? I'm trying SO hard to love my 1911, but I just keep coming back to the HP as my fave.

Wes

Hi Wes,

Yes, it is a "beater" and a "shooter".

It is more worn than the photo does justice. However, when I last shot it before "surgery", I had the gunsmith with me and I launched 13 rounds downrange at a target at 15 yards as fast as I could pull the trigger. When the smoke cleared, the X ring was gone from the target!

I call it my "stealth" HP. Looks like crap, but shoots like gold!

It doesn't get any better than that -- a gun that you don't hesitate to use "rough" if needs be, but that you can also count on to but the lead where you need it.

Man I love these guns.

Wes :)

Hey Mad Magyar, I just "have" to tell this story about a FEG 9mm I bought.:)
The story had a happy ending and I have owned enough guns over the years to know that one example doesn't mean all guns of the same make are lacking.
I stopped by my local FFL's store and saw a brand new looking 9mm FEG Hi Power clone. The dealer said he didn't think the previous owner had fired it more than a couple of times. So I bought it and took it to the range on my next visit. I had fired five or six rounds through the gun and the slide fell off. Yep, the slide fell off and landed on the counter in front of me (indoor range). I reassembled it and fired it a couple more times and the same thing happened again. So I put the gun away til I could check it out. Seems that the detent on the barrell link that holds the small steel ball in place had not been machined during the manufacturing process. I machined a recess for the ball to rest in thus holding it in place and everything worked fine after that.
The malfunction worked something like this: with no recess to hold the ball in place (detent) the slide lock pin worked loose and moved sideways, falling out and allowing the pistol slide to move forward. I must have lowered the gun between shots allowing gravity to work on the slide.
I wouldn't believe it if it hadn't happened to me. FEG's are fine weapons. I now have a FN Hi power also. I like em all. I check em all a bit closer no matter who's brand is on it.

Thanks Smitty, Oh Well, there goes my great "quality control- non-POS" theory out the window for the Hungarian armaments. Must of been a worker on the "graveyard shift" that had a little too much "sor & bor". Let me tell you about this certain Kimber-Ultra-Elite-Raptor-Desert Warrior that......;)
