Hey there, all...

I have a Marlin 925M, bolt-action .22Mag. I spent a long time picking out the right first rimfire rifle, and this is what I ended up choosing. I like it a lot and have been pleased with its accuracy. I have very good eyes (20/10), and can consistently nail clays set up at 75 yards with the iron sights on it. On one of my shotguns, I have a set of adjustable fiber optic sights that I like a lot. I think that if I put a set on my rifle, my accuracy would improve.

So three questions:
1. Do people commonly (or even fairly commonly) put fiber optic rifle sights on their guns?
2. From personal experience, does anyone have any opinions on this practice?
3. Does anyone have any specific brand recommendations or warnings?

Thanks,
Josh

The first gun I ever bought is a Marlin 882 SS, which is a bolt-action, stainless steel, .22 WMR from Wal-Mart (too bad they don't sell guns here anymore). It comes with fiber optic sights on it. They are easier for me to see than even painted iron sights. My favorite non-scope sighting system is still a peep sight though.

If I bought a set of fiber optic sights, should I be able to swap them for the iron sights myself or should I have a gunsmith do it?

I bought a set for my Marlin 70

Williams makes them for your rifle too. There great the three dot system is easy to pick up, and those fiber insert glow like a beacon in the day, and are great for low light. There also easier to get good accuracy than the stock sights.
Here they are

or directly from williams

the item you looking for is
Item #70270 - Marlin 25N & 25MN $29.95

Hope that helps:)

I've seen fiber optics on all sorts of guns - even many rifles now have a fiber optic front sight.

I just put a fiber optic front sight on my Buckmark 22 target pistol.
