I went to the local gunshop today to pick up some ammo and I saw an H&K USP9 NIB with 2 15-round mags. It was $645 so I traded two guns in to get it. All I can say is WOW!!!  I am so impressed with the way it looks and it feels perfect in my hand. What I like the most is that I don't notice much difference between DA and SA. The trigger pull on both is very smooth. Also, I like the decocker feature (I have the variant 1) as well as the manual safety. One thing I noticed while shooting is that the front of the gun feels heavier than any of my other semi-auto's, which I think helps me while shooting. The USP9 was smooth and jam free as I fed it over 200 rounds today. I finally have MY perfect semi-auto. Below is my best 20-round target. The shots that are down to the left were my first two. All my targets were setup at 15 yards.

That's funny I could have sworn you said perfect semi-auto but DID NOT follow that with SIG Sauer. Surely you must be delusional. Hell not only did you not say SIG Sauer, you even said 9mm. This does not compute. :scrutiny: :neener:

Just kidding. Nice piece you got their.

The USP 9 was what convinced me that I needed a USP. But I ended up getting mine in the compact version. A few weeks after I got my USPc, I ended up getting a P2000. :D If you think the USP is smooth, wait until you try the P2K.

They are great pistols. So are the Sig Sauers. Both are examples of fine German guns. My next two pistols are going to be the P2000SK and the P228.

I could've told you that, but you probably won't listen until you try it yourself. :D

Sig is overrated and overpriced for what you get. I should know, I've got their P220ST, 226, P2009. All steel, alum , even their plastic pistol.

I had two Sigs->the 229 in .357Sig and the SP2009 in 9mm. I liked the SP2009 most of all, but I had such a difficult time with the big grips and the transition between DA and SA. I HATED the .357Sig recoil and muzzle snap! The local gunshop had a compact .40, but it was too much money. I did fondle a P200SK (the one that is DA only?) and it felt real nice. I need to order some more 9mm ammo now, I don't think 1,500 rounds is going to last me long.:D :D

The thumb safety found on the 1911 is well-nigh perfect. I've always wondered why none of the current crop of plastic framed guns don't duplicate this feature. HK seems to be the only manufacturer smart enough to do this.

I'm looking at a USP compact 45 very hard right now. I figure it's like my 1911, only lighter.

Nice choice! I've had my USP .40 since '95 (KE date code) and it has been utterly reliable since. It is my primary home defense handgun, next to the Benelli M3S90. It shoots well, is smooth, weighted just right, and as you mentioned fits the hand quite nicely. There are many fine firearms out there, but I have to agree with you on the USP as being a favorite-mine!:D

Have fun shooting!

I just got the new CDNN catalog in the mail yesterday and I've looked through it a few times. I'm sure if you guys got it in the mail as well, it got you thinking.:D

Like musical instruments, sometimes the gun picks you. That's exactly what happened when I got my USP a few years ago. I went to the range and started renting every SA handgun in the case and when I got to the USP9 I knew that was the one that I was going to buy.

Congrats.....

Do any of you folks carry your USP concealed? If so, how hard is it to conceal and what do you think is a good brand of leather to get? I was looking at the Don Hume holsters, but I think I may get a Fobus that rotates.

IMO, it would be a sin to carry an H&K in a Fobus. Save the Fobus for a Glock. H&K's deserve leather. Don Hume is good, High Noon is also good. I have both and they're wonderful holsters. I think the High Noon is less bulky, though.

I picked up a USP9 a few months ago and I love it. My buddy who hasn't done much shooting can shoot it very well, and I'm almost as good with it as with my carry gun that I've been shooting for 5 years. The capacity is nice, too.

The USP has a manual safety? I prefer NO safety, the whole reason to carry a DA. It's safe to carry and you don't have no stinkin' safety to mess with.

I've never played with a USP. Does it have a Sig style decocker on the frame in 1911 safety position? If so, I like that a lot in the Sig. I don't own a Sig, but I like the frame mounted decocker better than my Ruger P90s slide mounted one, though the Ruger is ambidextrous.

Sounds like a nice gun...;)

You can get numerous USP variants, including one with no safety (decocker only) if that's what floats your boat.

Well, I like it on my USP - I even got a USP compact this past week.

I use the safety to keep the gun cocked all the time, and still have a safety on - a la 1911.

The USP compact 9mm is my "dream" pistol. One of these days, I'm going to get one. With H&K, I will be satisfied purchasing a used one. For now, I'm happy with my G19. I have read many articles and threads on the H&K line and I have seen far less negative issues with them than any other brand. That's just my learning experience so far.

I got a price on a NIB USP9 compact with 2 high cap mags. It will be the next semi-auto I buy in June. I got all my ammo in today that I ordered from various places. I now have over 3,000 rounds of 9mm. That should last me a month!
