I want a .300 Win Mag bolt action precision (read: "Tactical" if I had a legitimate purpose for it) rifle that I can take to some of the marksman schools and be proud of, but also take up north and go medium/large game hunting with. Tall order, I know.
I have been leaning towards a Remington 700 Police in .300WM or the new Remington XCR Tactical in .300WM. I don't know enough about the specs yet to decide between the two, and I don't even the the "XCR Tactical" is available yet, just on their website. I'm open to suggestions, but I know the 700's are the easiest to find repairmen for and get customized.
I'm open to suggestions, but I'm hoping to keep the total (without scope, of course) under $1500. Closer to $1K would be ideal.
Not the purpose of a post, but does anyone know of any good precision rifle courses for civilians other than Tactical Response? Thanks.
