I want a .300 Win Mag bolt action precision (read: "Tactical" if I had a legitimate purpose for it) rifle that I can take to some of the marksman schools and be proud of, but also take up north and go medium/large game hunting with. Tall order, I know.

I have been leaning towards a Remington 700 Police in .300WM or the new Remington XCR Tactical in .300WM. I don't know enough about the specs yet to decide between the two, and I don't even the the "XCR Tactical" is available yet, just on their website. I'm open to suggestions, but I know the 700's are the easiest to find repairmen for and get customized.

I'm open to suggestions, but I'm hoping to keep the total (without scope, of course) under $1500. Closer to $1K would be ideal.

Not the purpose of a post, but does anyone know of any good precision rifle courses for civilians other than Tactical Response? Thanks.

Too bad the 700 VSF doesnt come in 300wm, or the Senduro doesnt come in a black barrel. I am looking for a 300wm Tactical/Varmint style rifle too. I want it to come with a high end stock and not be stainless. Not much to choose from other than a 700P, no one else makes anything like that in 300wm.

In 308, CZ, Savage and Rem all make nice Varmint rifles with HSP stocks and black barrels. I like the fluting on that 700 VSF, but only 308 unfortunately.

How about a Savage 110fp with aftermarket stock? I love my 10fp, and its got an HS presicion stock on it.
With the money you save, you could put it into better glass, or a medium bore for hunting. The savage makes barrel swaps very simple, and there are dozens of options with it.

None of my dealers can get me a 700P, I guess Remington only makes those available to Police and Govt.

Where can I find an HS Precision or McMillan stock for a 110FP? I dont see a stock made for that model on either of their websites, or MidwayUSA.

Thanks

300 win mag

Armalite AR 30 300 win mag is one of the most accurate rifles I have ever used.
