I am working on a precision rifle build and on restoring and scoping a family heirloom .22. The price for everything thing I need to do on those projects amounts is enough to buy another gun. Given the currently political climate, should I buy another gun just to have or finish my projects?

Considering the AWB is not going to happen, I'd say finish your projects and wait for guns to come back to normal prices. I'm a little nervous over the magazine fight, but I can't afford those either. I too have been looking to finish up some of my gun projects since parts and accessories are still available.

I'd finish the projects - the proposed AWB is irrelevant IMO. You're working on restoring guns; it wouldn't make sense to buy a new gun at the same time. That'd be like restoring a '73 GTO and buying a 2012 GTO in the middle of the job. Finish what you started before looking for something new.

I'd say it depends on the other gun/s you would be interested in buying.

Anything that might be on a ban list or a target of treasonous political types are so explosively overpriced, it's not worth buying unless you feel you absolutely need one now. If that's the case, spin the wheel, roll the dice, insert additional gambling metaphor here.

However, if you are looking at buying guns that are "safe", like a classic bolt action or lever gun, the prices of those have not increased. Or at least not on the same level of rediculousness as the EBRs.

Gun accessories will be around even if the guns they are for do get hit with the ban hammer. I'll still be able to get BUISs for my AR even if my AR gets banned. Magazines are a different story.

You're just not giving us enough info to go on to really give you solid advice.
