First 9mm loads using TiteGroup

No. It would be 2" group at 75 feet.

1" group at 25 yards is doable by very few custom/match pistols.

For me, I consider 2" groups at 25 yards by factory pistol and good ammunition to be very accurate and if a pistol consistently produced 3" groups at 25 yards off hand, consider good enough for carry. (And for PCC, 1.5"-2" groups at 50 yard accuracy is good enough for defensive distance use)

Keep in mind that it's not the smallest group a pistol produces rather average/largest group the pistol is capable of that will matter for defensive shooting (as hammered into our brain by jmorris and Bart B. etc.)

FYI, here's a listing of what various pistols are capable of at 25 yards - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...s-and-discussions.778197/page-9#post-10940688

Thanks for providing all those links. It will take some time for me to go through all of them.

Regarding my 1" question. I was referring to the picture of the G19 picture using Power Pistol. It has 1" written on the target below the 5.5 pp. I thought that was the size of the grouping.

It is a 1" group at 25 yards using a rest. Some people can't believe that a Glock is capable of sub 2" groups at 25 yards. I happen to have three of them. Of course all of those groups were with reloads tuned to that pistol. With factory ammo, they can't do it.

And my little XDS 40 will do under 2" at 25 yards as well. And with cheap factory ammo. It is a freak.

Or an advantage arms regular .22 conversion on a $299 Armscor 1911 frame, 10 shots in under an inch at 25 yards.

I know I said you don’t need one and you don’t but it does make it fast and easy.

That is some excellent shooting. I am glad to see some tight groups with a 40S&W also. It seems that I need to start doing some more testing at 25 yards. You have set an excellent benchmark for non Ransom Rest testing at 25 yards, so hopefully I can get close to it one of these days.

Thanks again for sharing you load data and results.

For years my go to powder for 9mm and .38 was Bullseye. I tried some Titegroup after finding a couple of 4lb jugs at an estate sale for $50 a jug. It worked great in 9mm with 115,124 and 147gr Coated Lead. Very Accurate in my Hi Powers and my Sig P365. While I don't like Plated Bullets, at the same sale I bought 2k Berrys 147gr RN for $50. At that price I I couldn't turn them down. Decided to give them a try and with 3.6gr of Titegroup, it may be the most accurate 9mm load I've ever tried, especially in the P365. Probably won't buy any more when this 2k is gone because the coated lead are plenty accurate for day to day shooting and cost is much more attractive. For what its worth, Titegroup works very good in .38 special and 45 ACP. Not a bad powder for target loads in all 3 calibers.

Thanks for the information. I used to shoot only plated bullets in 9mm, and maybe I'll go back to them. For 357sig though I prefer to stick to jacketed bullets. There is nothing wrong with te accuracy of a good plated bullet.

I will definitely test some load in 45 acp and 38 special once I am done with my 9mm evaluation.

I was alluding to center-fire pistol shot with hands, not off Ransom Rest.

I knew that and agree.

I have some centerfire pistols that couldn’t shoot a 1” group at 25 yards if they got caught in volcanic rock, where they could be fired with the earth as a control. However,I do have some that are under 1/2 MOA at 200 meters by hand with the right load and conditions.

I have to adjust my expectations between those two extremes often.

Thanks for sharing your load information.

What type of accuracy do you see with your 4.1gr TH competition load?
I’m leery of posting a group therapy shot, you guys are really good. This is 10 shots at 10 yards from a cheap Caldwell rest. Even from that rest I know there’s still a lot of wiggle room so I don’t get too hung up on how good it could be, but if it’s 2-3” at 10 yards I’m suspecting the load and move on. The top one was TG, the bottom is one is WSF.

This weekend I tested my first TiteGroup loads in 9mm. Testing did not go that good, which probably explains the lack of very good groupings. The chrono results where very good with ES numbers from 13 to 22.

There were a couple of contributing factors from this weekend that probably explains why I did not see any very good grouping. I left my rest at home, so i had to use one of my ammo cans. It was difficult to get comfortable behind the pistol, so maybe it contributed to the larger groupings. I use a pistol scope mount, and found this weekend that it seems to come loose. It seems the the mount is a tighter fit on my P229's vs the picatinny rail on this SP2022.

Please note that testing was done at 15yards using a scope and an ammo can as a rest. The scope was not zeroed, so POI is where the scope was aiming after I mounted it.

TiteGroup definitely shows some promise and is an easy shooting load.

3.6 or 3.7gr of titegroup under a 124gr bullet has been one of my standard/go to 9mm reloads for a long time. Has done well in all of my 9s and exceptionally well in 5" barrels.
