Ran another few mags through my LCP the other day...

ALL factory ammo has run flawlessly through this gun to this point. 6 or 7 different brands of FMJs, 6 or 7 different HPs.

The only misfeeds were with very hot loads (max-loaded handloaded HPs, one mag only, won't use again),

And now the Buffalo Bore "+P" HP load. Same type of failure; the slide fails to return to battery/FTF.

Also the recoil is QUITE NOTICEABLY more with the BB load than with Hornady/Remington/Federal defense loads, which feel like pussycats by comparison. I'm sticking with those from now on, at least in this tiny gun.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Regarding the use of .380 +P ammo in the LCP for which there are no SAAMI standards, members are advised that Ruger says "no" to the use of .380 ammo in the LCP that exceeds the 21,500 psi limit established for the .380 by SAAMI .

Ruger's position is that you fire .380 +P ammo in your LCP at your own risk (to yourself, to the gun and to your warranty). This warning is explicitly mentioned in the latest LCP owner's manual and at Ruger's website (FAQs under Pistols):

Just something for you to read on that +P stuff and your Ruger

Interesting.
I read my new Diamondbacks manual from start to end yesterday and I dont recall seeing anything about not using +P ammo in it.
They do say reloads will void your warranty though.

And you need to remember Buffalo Boar is still using a very unpopular HP right now.

It is not the same bullet that they calm their numbers come from. It is not a gold dot.

Source? Evidence?

I'm very interested. Do they claim it's a gold dot?

Thanks Kanook, last time I checked (a few months ago) there was no mention of it.

Happy valley, I am in Sandy UT :)

The source is their data is the same as when they did have the gold dot bullet. when you pick up a Buffalo Bore cartridge in the .380 you can see it is not a buffalo boar.

Numbers can be the same if you change the bullet. That is impossible. It must preform better or different. When you change a variable as important as the actual bullet...doesn't add up.

You can google what a gold dot looks like. Buffalo Bore is using a Seharia bullet.

This should get you started on their lies.

Howdy Wild Cat. Thanks for the info.

I assume you meant "you can see it's not a Gold Dot" right?

I hope to be doing some ballistic testing soon and will definitely evaluate the BB stuff.

On my kel tec P3AT 380, I often get light strikes on the primer. At first i thought was my crimp on the reloads. Then i blamed the primers. Called Kel Tec an they said is commom problem when do not let the trigger return all the way, before pulling for second shot.

Something like that may be your problem. with light strikes on the primer. And yes, if i cant train myself to pull trigger properly, to avoid that problem, i will have to sell. Really like the little gun. Great shooter with the Crimson trace laser.

I had nothing but failures with BB in my P238. I was using the 100gr Lead Bullets. As soon as I see some WWB flat noses, I'm going to grab them to use as my carry rounds.

Just my experience, but I have not had a failure with BB ammo in any of my 380 pistols which include a Bersa, Micro Desert Eagle, P-3AT and a Diamondback.

Ya, I'd stick with the more reasonable ammo.

That was a cry for help from your pistol. The poor LCP is barely able to fire standard 380 without self-destructing. Don't shoot +P in an LCP.

LOL, how would you like it if you were the size of Tiny Tim and I forced you to eat 5 pounds of super-hot wings as fast as you can gobble them down?!? :neener:
