Finally making my first post...although ive been reading here for months! Thought i would never cave to make the "first handgun" post but it looks like i have! Oh well:rolleyes: everyone is so helpful here even though many topics are repeated it's hard not to ask for help!

Wanted to get peoples thoughts on both g19 and cz75b in 9mm. Both are available in my area (DE). I've shot the glock and loved it. Simple-nice short trigger-easy to take care of. Have not shot the CZ but just have read so many positive things about it and have held/dry fired it. My price limit is about $600. Right now I'm leaning towards the g19 as I plan to get my CCW in a year and could use that for it where as the cz75 would be too large probably. It would be mainly used for range, and then when i get my CCW its uses would expand. May get another gun for CCW, maybe not-depends on finances-not my wants :D

I like the striker fire of the glock but also don't mind the CZ (DA/SA for the 75B i think? Correct me)

Pretty much narrowed it down between those two. But am also playing with the idea of a used HK USP compact??

No SW Mp9, no beretta px4 storm (fs is too big for my likes) , no ruger, no XD and no sig for now.

Leme here your banter and thoughts!

Thanks,

Dave

I personally prefer the CZ. I owned a couple Glocks and shot a bunch of them that belonged to friends, but never could get real excited about them. One major complaint I always had about them was that I didn't like the grip angle. That may be correctable now in the latest generation with different sized backstraps. I wasn't real impressed with Glock accuracy, either, in any of the ones I've owned or shot.
The CZ fits my hand beautifully and points naturally for me. Mine has a nice single action trigger and shoots agreeably small groups, though it isn't a match grade target gun.
Get whichever one you shoot the best. The rest of us telling you which one to get will just tell you what we like.

Between DA/SA of the CZ-75 and the consistent trigger pull of a striker fired weapon, I would go with the Glock.

CZ75 was my first handgun, and is by far my favorite. Ironically, I CCW a G19. You can't go wrong with either, but I lean towards the CZ. Also, with a good holster a CZ75 can be CCW'd pretty easily.

Ha, I like that you now have both. I may end up very similar to that!

Thanks for the replys so far.

I hate to bring up the steel versus polymer debate but that may come into play for CCW. The CZ75 is the heavier gun. I have both but would lean towards the G19 for carry (currently carry a G27) since the G19 hasn't been broken in yet. I can imagine carrying the CZ but haven't done so yet. My CZ is a P01 though and is somewhat easier to carry than a full size CZ75.

I carry a g36 the cz would be a little big for my frame. Also had friend bring his cz here
last week loved trigger pull but would still recommend Glock.

I personally prefer the ergonomics of the CZ to the Glock, and I prefer having a hammer fired pistol, but that's simply my opinion. Your individual results may vary. :)

I love my CZ 85 (ambidextrous version of the 75).
I CCW'ed it once. It's ballpark as heavy as a 1911 which is too heavy to carry comfortbly for me.

I carry a Ruger SR9c daily. Comfortable and considerably lighter.

I'm not a Glock man, but given the two choices which you have selected, the Glock would be my suggestion based on 1) weight; 2) no safety to pfart with and 3) same, consistant trigger every time.

If you like the Glock 19 get one. As others have stated it is one of if not the best Glock made. I put it in the top 5 wonder 9mms of all time.

If it fits your hand and it shoots well for you get it. The CZ75 B is a good gun but very and very heavy for carry.

I prefer the CZ, because the grip angle fits me. (I own both a glock and a CZ.) I can shoot the Glock well, but I have to think about it. With the CZ, it is more natural to the way I hold a gun. A test I would recommend (in a safe area, of course ) is to close your eyes, then extend the gun forward as if you were shooting straight forward, then open your eyes and see where the gun is pointing. With the Glock, I am pointing high. With the CZ, it is perfectly in line with where I felt like I was aiming. To many people, it is just the opposite. Not saying this is the only thing to consider, but it may be useful. That said, which ever you choose, you can't go wrong, as they are both great firearms.

Why not just admit that you like CZ75 better and have bias against the Glock?:uhoh:

I see no bias. He clearly stated what works for him and that both are a guns choice. :scrutiny:

Both are great guns. The G19 would be a bit more diverse, in that you could carry it easier if you get a CCW permit, and it makes an equally great home defense and target gun. The CZ75 is one of my favorite range guns, but it is not fun to carry concealed.

I carried a SP01 for a few months, it wasn't too heavy. I kind of like the weight, feels like a real piece of weaponry. But I do not like the DA/SA.

Thlax: It appears that the Glock 19 would be a good fit for you. They sell around here for around $500. That would leave you about $100. for ammo and a holster. A good place to start at.

A full size CZ75 would be too heavy to carry. You might want to look at a CZ 75 PCR. It has an aluminum frame so it's a little lighter.

The best advice is to go to the range and shoot both. Buy the one that fits your hand is the more comfortable pistol to shoot.

You are comparing two totally different pistols.

One is striker fired, a different grip angle , has polymer lightness, medium trigger pull and functions very well.

The CZ 75B is a hammered DA/SA, a traditional grip angle, all steel/heavy, long DA trigger pull and fairly short SA pull, and functions very well. CZ does sell a similar but carry-size pistol http://czusa.com/products_handguns.php

Other than caliber, they are really not comparable. The only determining factor is "How the guns feel and shoot for you personally.

Do they point well/naturally?
Do you prefer light guns or heavy guns?
When you shoot, which is most accurate/easiest to be on target.
Which has fastest recovery for the second shot.

Everyone here, including me has a preference between the two, but that has little to do with how it may feel for you.

Try them both if you can.
