For my first: G19 or CZ75?

I like them both. I prefer the CZ for just shooting at the range, but prefer the 19 for concealed carry -- as the full-size CZ is a bit on the heavy side.

They're both fine weapons.

You should handle and try shooting both, if you can, and then decide. Or plan a bit and save a bit, and get both. You could do much worse.

(If you get a new one, the CZ trigger will be a disappointment at first, but a lot of use will improve the trigger. I'd get a trigger job, or buy it directly form the CZ Custom Shop, with action work already performed.)

Thanks for the help everyone

They (g19) are becoming more rare around here after the shooting. However they're still able to be found. And I would be purchasing it for my birthday in the end of Feb/start of March. So hopefully the "scare" will be dwindling by then.

I have a CZ 75B and I love it. It gets a bit heavy so I usually carry my old low end Kimber. But Thursday I'm picking up a Glock 19 Comp just to see what all the fuss is about. Seems like people either love em or hate em. Guess I'll find out in a few hundred rounds or so which category I fit into. But I'm fairly certain the accuracy level of the Glock will not stand up to the CZ. (and maybe not even the Kimber)

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised what that little polymer wonder can do.

Anyone saying the CZ-75 is too heavy for carry needs to turn in their man card--if they ever had one in the first place.

There are three CZs that are much lighter than the 75b. The PCR, the P0-1 and the 2075 (RAMI).

I prefer the P0-1 or the RAMI for concealed carry, but for range work the 75B is hard to beat.

In order to make a good decision you need to fire both the Glock and the CZ to see what fits you best.

Thanks for all the words everyone. For my first I just found it hard to beat the ever so common and reliable, glock 19.

My collection will only be ever expanding as free money is available out side of my 9mm ammo fund, so the CZ will come into play sometime in the near future!

Thanks again-

I prefer the CZ75 to any Glock. I have several Glocks but they are the least comfortable handguns I have.

For CCW, I prefer the CZ75 Compact to the CZ75B. The 75B is a great open carry gun. But for me the grip is a bit long for great CCW. The Compact is better in that respect. It is also ultra-comfortable, soft shooting and accurate. I have had mine for a couple of years and it it has never manfunctioned.

Here is a side-by-side comparison of the Compact and 75B:

Oddly enough, I found one CZ pistol that is feels lighter than my P-01, but is actually the same weight - the SP-01 Phantom. Been concealing it now for a few weeks without any difficulty - it's how much effort you want to put into it, as this is a full size 18 round capacity duty/military sidearm. :)
Glad you made your choice, now make sure you get a decent holster, no $10 Uncle Mikes or Rhino nylon from the used holster bin at Guns R Us, get something wel made that will last w long time, and plenty of ammo for practice, practice, practice!

Honestly. Theres so many out there. I like them all. I haven't shot enought to build a preference yet. I like striker fire. I like Da/SA. I like so much it's been a pain to choose.

I will say within 4 years ill have some combo of a glock, CZ, beretta and an HK.... And that's just next 4 years:)

The thing i want to do is get my firearm. Practice. Practice. Buy more ammo. Practice some more. Then I can decide what's next, and repeat cycle.

It's going to be YOUR gun. So go find a Rent-A-Gun commercial range that has both and try them for yourself. OUR opinions mean less than the black spots on your montior that form the words you've been reading. Shoot them for yourself and make up YOUR mind.

Or if our opinions mean that much to you then I say buy the CZ. Glocks melt first in a fire so CZ's are obviously the better gun... :D

The truth of it just hangs in the air. The sun is a shinning a little brighter, and the birds a singing.

I picked up a Gen 3 Glock 19 new in the box that included 3 - 15 round magazines a month ago for $425. Why so inexpensive? I'm a member of Glock Sport Shooting Foundation. As a member I can buy one new Glock at a discounted price each calendar year. Membership is only $35 for the first year, $25 thereafter. You know, I think you could probably sell a Glock 19 after a year of use for about what you have in it based on the discounted membership price, so it's almost like a money back guarantee. Membership also has other benefits, like shooting competitions and you can sign up for a Glock armorer's course in your area to further your knowledge of this fine firearm.

I have several Glocks and they have all been flawless. With practice, I find they're as accurate if not more accurate than any other handgun I own, which includes a rather expensive (for me) Nighthawk Talon.

Conclusion, get the Glock - you won't be disappointed.

Sebastian- I rented and shot at target master all of them except CZ. And went to Ommelanden with a friend who has a CZ to try it. There's an official CZ dealer in Delaware (forget which shop) that you can hold/ dry fire. I know xring in Newark has them. I forget which is the official though. I thought they were super hard to find, guess were lucky!
