Getting excited to try this fun new game/activity. Wish me luck. Just lookign to be safe and have fun, i am already reserved to the fact that i will most likely come in last.

you have read the on line IDPA rules i bet.
many clubs post the course of fire on their web sites.

good to know so you can practice which type of reload is gonna be required.
and order of engagement so you can figure when to reload ( some reloads may be mandatory though). lots more---have fun ( be safe!!) and good luck

Good luck! Stay safe, listen to the safety officer, shoot straight and have fun.

Had a great time, didnt do anything stupid and shot very well. I was going in with the idea i would finish last since i have only been shootng for 8 months, but i did very well. Still dont have the final score, but i was pleased

Glad you liked it. I'm going to a classifier next Sunday, it has been a lot of years since I shot IDPA and I'm getting back into it once again after a long time away from it.

I'm thinking of shooting a M&P compact in .40 along with my trusty security six in .357. I have a J frame if they are holding bug matches.

Clutch

just got the results, score was 244 - 7 stages, outside, moving targets (never shot at anything moving before). 57 shooters in SSP, i came in 42nd, but what i was very pleased with was 34 penalty points, that beat 43 other shooters in the catergory. I was very deliberate with my shooting, did nto rush anything, so i figure if i can pick up the speed next time, i can easily move under 200. I was very slow to make sure i was very safe, next time i will be much more comfortable.

Hey, that's a great first outing and the approach you are taking is the correct one. I think you'll be even more pleased with your performance in coming matches. Enjoy!

Agree on both points. It's good you're shooting within your control. Remember the mantra "shoot slow, move fast".

It's very tempting to shoot too fast, but it only teaches you to miss faster. Unfortunately, shooting too fast is a difficult habit to break, since the ego really fights it.

Glad you had a good time.

My first match, first stage I shot LIGHTNING fast. My raw time was great. Adjusted time - 25 points down and a FTN. As I slowed down that day, my scores picked up! Listening to the other shooters helped quite a bit.

You are on the right track.
