I woke up this morning, and grabbed my laptop to check the usual sites, including the high road, when I looked up when the next gun show was going to be. I have only been to 2, and just decided to see when the next one was, and take my friend with me. I saw that there was one going on today, and decided to go. My friend is pretty new to guns, and actually is a little nervous around them because he had a ND once.
We went to the gun show, and he had a blast looking at all the firearms, knives, and collectibles there. When were driving back to our neighborhood, I decided he had to see my favorite gun store, and check out their indoor shooting range. I love guns, and love talking about guns. Especially to someone who is not familiar with them. When I saw he had some interest, I decided he was going to shoot today. I rented us a lane, 150rds of 9mm, and a Glock 17 (3rd Gen).
He was nervous as heck! I briefed him about all the rules, and then taught him how to be a safe shooter. We had discussed firearm safety earlier today, before the gun show as well. We were shooting decently, until we rented a CZ 75B. First off, I'm a huge Glock fan, and I've been thinking about getting a Glock 17 on my 21st birthday in April. We were shooting 10rds a target, and put about 75 rounds into an Osama Bin Landen target. After 50 rounds through a CZ 75b, I felt like I was shooting more accurately, and the gun felt great in my hands! I was getting tighter groups, and the recoil seemed more manageable. Overall, I think I am now going to get a CZ for my birthday! I was very impressed.
Today's fun cost me $160, but it was tons of fun, and I learned a lot. My friend loved shooting, and learned a great deal about shooting myths (Mainly how ridiculous movies are), and loved being at the range. After it all, we went to my house and both saw HEAT for the first time. Wow. What a day!
